Quincy, IL (Sunday, July 27, 2014) - Beautiful weather all day Sunday meant that racing would go on as planned at the Quincy Raceways in Quincy, IL. In the spotlight on the night would be the UMP Modifieds battling for a top prize of $1,250 and the IMCA SportMods battling for $500 to win. Also in action on the night was the IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Sport Compacts.
The first feature up on the night was the 18 lap IMCA Stock Cars, with Troy Brierton and Jerry Jansen leading the field to the green flag. Jansen would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Terry Houston, who started 4th, and Brierton. Jansen then held the top spot until lap 6, when Houston slipped past him to grab the lead. While Houston set his own pace out front, the battle for second thru sixth was a good one. As Jansen, Jake Powers, Beau Taylor, who started 6th, Brandon Savage, who started 8th, and Abe Huls, who started 10th, battled side-by-side at times for those spots. But there was nobody stopping Houston on this night, as he went on to lead the final 12 laps of a caution free race to pick up his first win of the season. Taylor won the battle for 2nd, Huls was 3rd, Jansen was 4th, with Savage edging out a fifth place finish.
Up next was the 25 lap IMCA SportMod feature, with Jim Gillenwater and Bob Cowman drawing the front row for the event. Just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Laine VanZandt came to a stop in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Gillenwater jumped out front on lap 1 over Tony Dunker and Joey Gower, who started 6th. But just after the completion of lap 1 another caution came out, as Adam Birck, who was behind the wheel of Charles VanZandt's #80v machine, spun in turn 2 and collected Craig Brooks to bring out the yellow. Gillenwater moved back out front on the restart, with Dunker and Gower close behind. Another lap complete, lap 2, produced another yellow at first that turned into a red flag condition. New comer Nathan Bringer spun in turn 4 and collected Cowman, Jeff DeLonjay and VanZandt to bring out the yellow. But when the front of DeLonjay's car started to catch fire the yellow turned into a red. Once back to green Gillenwater jumped back out front, with Tanner Klingele, who started 7th, going three wide between Dunker and Gower to move into the runner up spot. Gillenwater then started to pull away from the battle behind him, when Bringer slowed in turn 1 to bring out the yellow on lap 12. On the restart Gillenwater moved back out front, with Gower getting past Klingele for the second spot. The battle up front came to a disastrous stop on lap 13, when Gower got into the back of Gillenwater and spun him in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Klingele inherited the lead for the restart, but when he jumped the restart to bring out the yellow. He was moved back one spot to second, with Dunker inheriting the lead. Klingele then tried to work under Dunker over the next 9 laps, when the final caution of the event appeared on lap 22. A tire was clipped in turn 3 and pushed out onto the track, while debris in turn 4 brought out the yellow. Dunker moved out front on the restart and then held on over the final 3 laps to pick up third win in a row at the track and the $500 top prize to go with it. Klingele settled for 2nd, Gower recovered from his involvement in the lap 13 caution to come back up to finish in 3rd, Bradley Holtmeyer, who started 16th, recovered from his right rear flat under the lap 1 caution to come up to finish in 4th, with Bobby Anders rounding out the top 5.
Rusty Griffaw and Michael Long led the field to the green in the 30 lap UMP Modified feature, with Griffaw grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Long and Steven DeLonjay. Just after the completion of lap 1 Shane Lewis and Charles Baker got together down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart Griffaw jumped back out front over Long and DeLonjay. Griffaw, who was running the bottom of the track, then worked to hold off Long, who was working the middle and top of the track. Those two would run laps 8 and 9 side-by-side, with Griffaw edging Long at the line on each lap. Griffaw started to enter lapped traffic on lap 19, which allowed Long to close in on him again. But Griffaw would hold on to claim the win and the $1,250 top prize. Long was 2nd, David Wietholder came from 8th to finish in 3rd, Donovan Lodge started 6th and finished in 4th, with Craig Spegal coming from 9th to finish in 5th.
The final feature to take to the track was the 15 lap IMCA Sport Compacts, with Alex Baker and Alex Costigan on the front row. But it was eighth place starter Kimberly Abbott who quickly moved to the front of the field to grab the lead on lap 1 over Adam Scott and Baker. While Abbott started to pull away from the field, Brandon Lambert, who started 7th, Austen Becerra, who started 11th, and Craig Bangert, who started 10th, were working there way towards the front. Abbott looked to be heading to the win, when the first and only caution of the event appeared on lap 14 to set up a one lap dash to the finish. Scott would slow to a stop in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Abbott moved back out front and held on to pick up the win. Becerra settled for 2nd, Brandon Lambert was 3rd, Bangert was 4th, with Casey Lambert coming home in 5th.

Veloz Scores His First Win of the Season at 34 Raceway
West Burlington, IA (Saturday, July 26, 2014) - It's starting to be a trend on Saturday's, as mother nature tired once again to spoil the weekly racing action at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, IA. But after over night showers and cloudy conditions all day long, the sun finally shined just before hot laps to provide for another exciting night of racing.
The first feature to take to the track on the night was the 20 lap IMCA Modifieds, and when Chadwick Giberson decided to go to the rear on the start that would move Larry McConnell and Dustan Fenton to the front row. But it was fifth place starter Milo Veloz Jr. who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Fenton and Dennis LaVeine. Veloz then started to pull away from the battle behind him, when the first caution of the event appeared on lap 7. Lonnie Heap, who made his 2014 debut, spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Veloz Jr. jumped back out front, with Fenton working to hold back Bill Roberts Jr., who started 7th, for the runner up spot. Veloz Jr. once again started to pull away from the field, when the second caution came out on lap 13. This time Troy Greiner spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Veloz Jr. once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Roberts Jr. over taking Fenton for the second spot. But another caution one lap later, lap 14, would slow the action down. Darrow Lillie would spin in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Veloz Jr. moved back out front, with Roberts Jr. working to hold back Mitch Morris, who started 8th, in the battle for second. One lap later, lap 15, produced another caution, as McConnell spun in turn 2 and collects Greiner to bring out the yellow. On the restart Fenton, who was running 5th, got sideways in turn 2 and collects LaVeine, who was running 7th, to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Veloz Jr. jump back out front, with Roberts Jr. and Morris battling for second. Two laps later, lap 17, Giberson would spin in turn 2 to bring out the caution and slow the action up front. On the restart Jonathan Olmscheid, who made the pull down from Wilmar, Minnesota, stopped in turn 2 with a broken left front. At the same time Roberts Jr., who was running 2nd and pulled into the pits just before the caution came out with a left rear flat tire, spun off turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Veloz Jr. moved back out front, with Morris and Jeff Waterman, who started 13th, battled side-by-side for the second spot. Veloz Jr. would go on to lead the final 3 laps to pick up his first win of the season at the track. Waterman would edge out 2nd at the line, Morris was 3rd, Tyler Glass passes 11 cars from his 15th place starting spot to come home in 4th, with Dean McGee coming from 14th to round out the top 5.

Just as the green flag was waved the yellow light would come on, as John Brockway spun in turn 1 from contact from Jake Wenig to bring out the yellow. On the restart Shane Watts, who started 8th, quickly moved to the front to grab the lead on lap 1 over Wachter and Tom Bowling Jr., who started 10th. Watts then held the top spot until lap 3, when Wenig, who recovered from his involvement in the spin on the start, used the top of the track to grab the lead away. With Wenig using the top of the track, Watts would try the middle in turns one and two and the bottom in turns 3 and 4 to get around Wenig. The two would run laps 6, 7, 8 and 9 side-by-side, with Wenig leading each lap at the line, as John Oliver Jr., who started 9th, moved in on lap 9 to make it a three car battle up front. The battle up front was slowed for the second and final time on lap 12, when debris in turn one brought out the yellow. On the restart Wenig jumped back out front, with Watts and Oliver Jr. close behind. Once again Watts went back to trying the bottom to get around Wenig for the lead. Watts was able to slip under Wenig coming of turn 4 to grab the lead on lap 16 by inches. The two would come across the line on lap 17 dead even, with Watts grabbing a half a car length lead on lap 18. Going into turn 1 on the final lap Wenig would try to drive under Watts and made contact, which caused the two to spin into the infield. Bowling Jr. would inherit the lead and came around to pick up his third win of the season at the track. Dane Fenton came from 5th to finish in 2nd, Chad Krogmeier was 3rd, John Oliver Jr., who was running third on the final lap, had to get on the brakes to avoid Watts and Wenig spinning and slipped back to finish in 4th, with Ray Raker recovering from his spin to avoid a car on the drop of the green flag to come back up to finish in 5th.

Simmons then held the lead until the first caution of the event appeared on lap 6 to slow the action. Shelman, who was running 3rd, spun in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Simmons jumped back out front, with Bobby Anders, who started 9th, over taking VanBuskirk for the second spot. Simmons, who was using the bottom of the track, then worked to hold back Anders, who was running up top. But Anders would use the momentum off the top to grab the lead away from Simmons on lap 8. The action was slowed for the second time on lap 12, as Ethan Allen spun in turn 2 to bring out the caution. On the restart Creston Williams, who started 11th and had worked his way to 7th, spun in turn 4 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Anders move back out front, with Simmons and Brett Timmerman, who started 5th, battling for second. Anders would go on to lead the final 3 laps to claim his fourth win of the season at the track. Simmons held on for 2nd, Timmerman was 3rd, Sean Wyett came from 8th to finish in 4th, with VanBuskirk coming home in 5th.

Baker would take advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Larry Miller and Austen Becerra, who started 8th. Miller would jump to the top of the track to grab the top spot away from Baker on lap 2, with Becerra following behind him. Becerra then tried to work under Miller over the next 3 laps, when the first and only caution came out on lap 5. Daytona Fenton came to a stop in turn 3 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Miller jumped back out front, with Becerra glued to his back bumper. Miller then had to work to hold off Becerra, who was looking under him off the corners. Becerra was able to slid under Miller coming off turn 2 on lap 9 to come around to lead lap 10. Becerra then held on over the final two laps to pick up his sixth win of the season at the track and 26th overall. Miller settled for 2nd, Dustin Ravelin was 3rd, Rachael Reger was 4th, with Baker holding on for 5th.
Jimmy Halcomb and Devon Rouse led the field to the green in the 12 lap Mod Lite feature, with Halcomb grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Daniel Keltner and Rouse. But Halcomb's lead would only last for 1 lap, as Keltner used the top of the track to grab the lead away on lap 2. With Keltner out front, the battle for second on back was a good one. As Halcomb, Rouse, Justin Buchholz and Chase Flatt had a side-by-side battle going on for second on back. Keltner pulled away over the final 10 laps of a caution free race to pick up the win. Rouse won the battle for 2nd, Flatt was 3rd, Halcomb was 4th, with Buchholz coming home in 5th.

Steward would over take Peterson for second on lap 7 and then went to work on chasing down Krieger, who had built up a straight away lead. Just as Krieger started to enter lapped traffic on lap 10, Steward was able to close in on his back bumper. One lap later, lap 11, Steward would slip under Krieger to grab the top spot away. Steward then pulled away over the final 9 laps, of a caution free race, to claim his second win of the season at the track. Krieger settled for a career best 2nd, Jayson Ditsworth came from 9th to finish in 3rd, Dustin Clark passed 7 cars from his 11th place starting spot to come home in 4th, with John Schulz rounding out the top 5.

Lanigan Does It Again in World of Outlaw Late Model Stop at Independence
Independence, IA (Thursday, July 24, 2014) - Mother nature tried to damping the World of Outlaw Late Models and Hawkeye Dirt Tour visit at the Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, IA on Thursday night. As a storm was building just north and west of the track, but it never got close enough to succeed in slowing the schedule of events down.
Up first on the track was qualifying for the 25 World of Outlaw Late Models signed in on the night. Jason Rauen of Farley, Iowa would surprise the regular's on the tour by setting the overall fast time, with a lap of 14.00. He was followed by Billy Moyer, Darrell Lanigan, Rick Eckert and Chad Simpson, who was behind the wheel of the Diercks Motorsports #25 on this night.
Following Late Model qualifying was the four 8 lap Hawkeye Dirt Tour Series heat races featuring the IMCA Modifieds, as 31 cars signed in on the night in hopes of taking home the $1,000 top prize. Pierce Dominates Big 10 Late Model Series Stop at Quincy Raceways
Quincy, IL (Sunday, July 20, 2014) - The Big 10 Late Model Series made there second stop of the season at the Quincy Raceways in Quincy, IL, and for the second time Bobby Pierce dominated the feature to claim the $2,000 top prize. Also in action on the night was the UMP Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, and IMCA Sport Compacts.
The first feature to take to the track on the night was the 15 lap IMCA Sport Compacts, with Alex Baker and Alex Costigan leading the field to the green flag. But it was sixth place starter Brandon Lambert who quickly moved to the front to lead lap 1 over Baker and Adam Scott. Lambert then had to work to hold off Austen Becerra, who started 9th, over the next 7 laps, as Becerra tried to use the bottom and top of the track to get around Lambert. But the first and only caution of the event on lap 8 slowed the battle up front, as Alex Baker spun in turn 4 from contact from Darin Weisinger Jr. to bring out the yellow. On the restart Lambert jumped back out front, with Becerra having to work to hold back Kimberly Abbott, who started 8th, in the battle for the runner up spot. Three laps later, lap 11, Becerra was able to slip under Lambert to grab the top spot away and then pulled away to pick up his third win in a row and eighth of the season at the track, and twenty-sixth overall of the season. Lambert held on for 2nd, Abbott was 3rd, Cliff Spencer came from 7th to finish in 4th, with Scott coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 18 lap IMCA SportMod feature, with Jared Wiemelt and Bob Cowman making up the front row. But it was third place starter Trevor Hagerbaumer who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Tanner Klingele and Bobby Anders, who started 7th. Hagerbaumer's run out front only last for 1 lap, as Klingele slipped under him on lap 2 to grab the top spot. Just after the completion of lap 2 the first caution of the race appeared, as Jeff DeLonjay, who started 10th, spun in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Klingele jumped back out front, with Anders and Joey Gower battling for the second spot. While Klingele set the pace out front, Tony Dunker, who started 10th, was working his way towards the front. The action was slowed for the second time on lap 10, when Wiemelt spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Klingele once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Dunker close behind. Dunker would try the top of the track to get around Klingele over the next 5 laps, when the final caution of the race appeared on lap 15. Wiemelt would spin in turn 4 for his second solo caution to end his night. On the restart Dunker used the the top of the track coming out of turn 4 to edge Klingele at the line by inches to grab the top spot away on lap 16. Dunker then held on over the final 2 laps to claim his second win in a row at the track. Klingele settled for 2nd, Bradley Holtmeyer started 6th and finished in 3rd, Anders was 4th, with DeLonjay recovering from his lap 2 spin to come back up to finish in 5th.
Chuck Mitchell and Rickey Frankel led the field to the green flag in the 30 lap Big 10 UMP Late Late Model Series feature. Frankel would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Bobby Pierce and Denny Woodworth. Frankel, who was running up top, then had to work to hold off Pierce, who was running the bottom, over the next 6 laps, when the first caution came out. Mitchell would slip over the track in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Frankel jumped back out front over Pierce and Woodworth. Once again Pierce tried the bottom of the track to get around Frankel, but Frankel was able to hold him off each lap. That was until lap 11 when Pierce drove it hard going into turn 3 and slipped up in front of Frankel to take over the top spot. One lap later, lap 12, the second caution would slow the action. This time Kenny VanDorn spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Pierce once again moved out front on the restart, with Mark Burgtorf, who started 6th, over taking Frankel for the runner up spot. The only thing to slow Pierce down, even as he entered lapped traffic on lap 22, was the final caution of the event on lap 24. This time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular driver Justin Jennings would spin in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Pierce jumped back out front, with Brian Diveley, who started 7th, and Gordy Gundaker, who started 9th, following in second and third. Pierce would go on to lead the final 6 laps to pick up his second win in only his third start of the season at the track and claimed the $2,000 top prize to go with it. Diveley was 2nd, Gundaker was 3rd, Frankel was 4th, with Denny Woodworth rounding out the top 5.
Up next was the the 25 lap UMP Modified feature, with Michael Long and David Wietholder making up the front row for the event. Wietholder took advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Long and Steven DeLonjay. The action up front was slowed for the first time on lap 2, as Bill Scott spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Wietholder jumped back out front, with Long and DeLonjay close behind. Long would use the bottom of the track to take over the top spot from Wietholder on lap 4. A second caution for Russ Coultas' spin in turn 2 on lap 8, would slow the battle up front. Long once again moved out front on the restart, with DeLonjay over taking Wietholder for the runner up spot. While Long started to pull away from the field, DeLonjay, Wietholder and Jared Schlipman, who started 8th, were battling two and three wide for the runner up spot. Long's big lead was erased on lap 16, when a tire in turn 4 was pushed out onto the track to bring out the caution. On the restart DeLonjay used the bottom of the track to slip under Long to grab the lead away on lap 17. DeLonjay then held off Long over the final 8 laps to claim second win in a row at the track. Long was 2nd, Schlipman was 3rd, Wietholder was 4th, with Shawn Deering coming home in 5th.
The final and maybe the best feature of the night was the 18 lap IMCA Stock Car feature, with Troy Brierton and Jerry Jansen leading the field to the green. Brierton would use his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Jake Powers and Nathan Hayes. But Brierton's lead would only last for one lap, as he drifted over the track in turn 4 to allow Powers to slip past for the lead on lap 2. Brandon Savage, who started 7th, jumped to the top of the track to edge out out Powers for the top spot on lap 7. The the first caution on lap 9 would slow the action up front, as Jeremy Buss spun in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Savage moved back out front, with Powers close behind and Jansen working to hold back Abe Huls, who started 8th. One lap later, lap 10, the second and final caution of the race appeared, as debris in turn 4 brought out the yellow. Savage once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Powers, Jansen and Huls close behind. Savage, who was working the top of the track, had to work to hold back Powers, who was on the bottom, over the next 2 laps. When Powers edged him out at the line to lead lap 13. But Savage would come back on the top of the track to take the lead back on lap 14, as Huls moved in to make it a three car battle for the top spot. Savage, who was up top, Huls, was using the bottom and middle, and Powers, who was on the bottom, ran the next three laps three wide at times. Coming out of turn four for the checkered flag Huls used the bottom of the track to pick up his third win in the last four weeks at the track. Savage settled for 2nd, Powers was 3rd, Beau Taylor was 4th after starting in 6th, with Gabe Harrison making his first start of the season coming from 10th to round out the top 5.
Notes from Quincy: Casey Lambert started the Sport Compact feature in 11th and finished in 6th....Spencer Coats made his first start of the season and started in 12th. He would pass 4 cars to come home in 8th......Todd Reed, who started 12th and was running 6th in the SportMod feature, had to pit under the lap 10 caution with a right rear flat. Next Sunday, July 27th will be an Open Wheel Shootout at the Quincy Raceways in Quincy, IL, as the UMP Modifieds will be battling for a top prize of $1,250. While the IMCA SportMods will be going for $500 to win in a draw / redraw format. Also in action will be the IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Sport Compacts.
But next up for me will be the World of Outlaw Late Models at the Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, IA. The Late Models will be racing for a top prize of $10,000. The Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds will be joining the action, as they will be racing for $1,000 to win.
The first feature to take to the track on the night was the 15 lap IMCA Sport Compacts, with Alex Baker and Alex Costigan leading the field to the green flag. But it was sixth place starter Brandon Lambert who quickly moved to the front to lead lap 1 over Baker and Adam Scott. Lambert then had to work to hold off Austen Becerra, who started 9th, over the next 7 laps, as Becerra tried to use the bottom and top of the track to get around Lambert. But the first and only caution of the event on lap 8 slowed the battle up front, as Alex Baker spun in turn 4 from contact from Darin Weisinger Jr. to bring out the yellow. On the restart Lambert jumped back out front, with Becerra having to work to hold back Kimberly Abbott, who started 8th, in the battle for the runner up spot. Three laps later, lap 11, Becerra was able to slip under Lambert to grab the top spot away and then pulled away to pick up his third win in a row and eighth of the season at the track, and twenty-sixth overall of the season. Lambert held on for 2nd, Abbott was 3rd, Cliff Spencer came from 7th to finish in 4th, with Scott coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 18 lap IMCA SportMod feature, with Jared Wiemelt and Bob Cowman making up the front row. But it was third place starter Trevor Hagerbaumer who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Tanner Klingele and Bobby Anders, who started 7th. Hagerbaumer's run out front only last for 1 lap, as Klingele slipped under him on lap 2 to grab the top spot. Just after the completion of lap 2 the first caution of the race appeared, as Jeff DeLonjay, who started 10th, spun in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Klingele jumped back out front, with Anders and Joey Gower battling for the second spot. While Klingele set the pace out front, Tony Dunker, who started 10th, was working his way towards the front. The action was slowed for the second time on lap 10, when Wiemelt spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Klingele once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Dunker close behind. Dunker would try the top of the track to get around Klingele over the next 5 laps, when the final caution of the race appeared on lap 15. Wiemelt would spin in turn 4 for his second solo caution to end his night. On the restart Dunker used the the top of the track coming out of turn 4 to edge Klingele at the line by inches to grab the top spot away on lap 16. Dunker then held on over the final 2 laps to claim his second win in a row at the track. Klingele settled for 2nd, Bradley Holtmeyer started 6th and finished in 3rd, Anders was 4th, with DeLonjay recovering from his lap 2 spin to come back up to finish in 5th.
Chuck Mitchell and Rickey Frankel led the field to the green flag in the 30 lap Big 10 UMP Late Late Model Series feature. Frankel would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Bobby Pierce and Denny Woodworth. Frankel, who was running up top, then had to work to hold off Pierce, who was running the bottom, over the next 6 laps, when the first caution came out. Mitchell would slip over the track in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Frankel jumped back out front over Pierce and Woodworth. Once again Pierce tried the bottom of the track to get around Frankel, but Frankel was able to hold him off each lap. That was until lap 11 when Pierce drove it hard going into turn 3 and slipped up in front of Frankel to take over the top spot. One lap later, lap 12, the second caution would slow the action. This time Kenny VanDorn spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Pierce once again moved out front on the restart, with Mark Burgtorf, who started 6th, over taking Frankel for the runner up spot. The only thing to slow Pierce down, even as he entered lapped traffic on lap 22, was the final caution of the event on lap 24. This time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular driver Justin Jennings would spin in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Quam and Fenton Pick Up First Career Wins at 34 Raceway on Saturday Night
West Burlington, IA (Saturday, July 12, 2014) - After two weeks of special events and a rain out in between those, 34 Raceway in West Burlington, IA returned to there weekly program on Saturday night. After the nights events were over two drivers scored their first career feature wins, with another one winning there first of the season, and three others winning for multiple times this year at the track.
The first feature up on the night was the 20 lap IMCA Modifieds, with Darrow Lille and Dustan Fenton leading the field to the drop of the green flag. But it was fourth place starter Dean McGee who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Fenton and Dennis LaVeine. While McGee started to stretch out his lead over the field, Mitch Morris, who started 9th, and Jeff Waterman, who started 6th, were working there way towards the front. Those two drivers moved into second and third on lap 5 and then went to work on chasing down McGee for the lead. They would get help on lap 13, when Chadwick Giberson spun in turn 1 to bring out the first caution of the event. On the restart McGee jumped back out front, with Waterman, Morris and Bill Roberts Jr., who started 7th, all battling for the runner up spot. The action up front was slowed for the second and final time on lap 19, when Lillie spun in front of the field in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. This would set up a one lap dash to the finish, as the green and white flag was waved at the same time on the restart. McGee moved back out front on the restart and then held off Roberts Jr. on the final lap to pick up his first win of the season at the track. Roberts Jr. settled for 2nd, Waterman was 3rd, Tyler Glass was 4th, with Morris holding on for 5th.
The 12 lap Mod Lite feature was next to take to the track, with Devon Rouse and Collin Ball making up the front row for the event. Ball took advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Daniel Keltner and Rouse. Just after the completion of lap 1 the caution light would come on, as Jimmy Halcomb spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Ball moved back out front, with Keltner and Justin Buchholz close behind. But Halcomb would spin into the wall in turn 3 on the completion of lap 2 to bring out his second solo caution to end his night. On the restart Keltner used the top of the track to grab the lead and then went on to pick up the win. Ball was 2nd, Buchholz was 3rd, Rouse was 4th, with Michael Dominguez coming from 8th to round out the top 5.
Dakota Simmons and Scott Williams led the field to the green in the 15 lap IMCA SportMod feature, with Simmons grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Brett Timmerman and Adam Shelman. Simmons then had to work to hold them off, when the first caution of the event appeared on lap 6. Ethan Allen came to a stop in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Joey Gower, who started 5th, slipped under Simmons to grab the lead on lap 7. Just after the lap was scored complete, the second and final caution appeared, as Shelman, who was running 4th, spun down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. Gower jumped back out front on the restart, with Simmons working to hold back Bobby Anders, who started 8th, for the runner up spot. Gower would go on to lead the final 8 laps to claim his second win of the season at the track. Simmons held on for 2nd, Anders was 3rd, Sean Wyett came from 7th to finish in 4th, with Creston Williams recovering from his hit into the turn 4 wall in the heat to come from 14th to finish in 5th.
Up next was the 12 lap 4 Cylinder feature, with Daytona Fenton and Dustin Ravelin making up the front row for the event. But just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Roy Norton lost a right front tire in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Ravelin used his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Fenton and Ron Kibbe. The action up front was slowed for the second time on lap 5, as debris in turn 1 brought out the yellow. Ravelin moved back out front on the restart, with Fenton and Kibbe battling for the runner up spot. Five laps later, lap 10, debris in turn 3 brought out the final caution of the race to set up a 2 lap dash to the finish. On the restart Ravelin moved back out front, with Fenton and Kibbe close behind. Going down the backstretch on the final lap Ravelin's car slowed, which allowed Fenton and Kibbe to slip under him. Fenton then held off Kibbe at the line by inches to pick up his first career feature win. Kibbe settled for 2nd, Austen Becerra came from 8th to finish in 3rd, new comer Blake Anderson started 9th and finished in 4th, with Ravelin holding on to finish in 5th.
Shawn Whiting and Jacob Glasgow led the field to the green flag in the 305 Sprint feature. But just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Heath Bundy spun off turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Cody Wehrle got into the turn 3 wall and rolled to bring out the red. He would climb from the car okay. The following restart produced another red flag, as John Schulz, who was driving the #73 owned by Kenneth Bragg, rolled down the front stretch to bring the red light back on. He would climb from the car okay. A fourth attempt of a start saw Glasgow grab the lead on lap 1 over Whiting and Donnie Steward, who started 11th in his return to the 16HD car. Whiting's run up front came to a stop on lap 2, when he spun from his second place running spot to bring out the yellow. On the restart Nick Guernsey, who was running 5th, clipped the cone on the front stretch and brought out the caution. He was docked one spot on the restart. Steward jumped to the top of the track on the restart to grab the lead away from Glasgow and then started to pull away from the field. Steward looked like he was going to pick up the easy win, when on lap 14 he slowed to a stop off turn 4 with a blown motor. Shane Quam, who started 5th, inherited the lead on the restart and then went on to lead the final 6 laps to claim his first career feature win. Glasgow was 2nd, Daniel Bergquist came from 9th to finish in 3rd, Jayson Ditsworth passed 6 cars from his 10th place starting spot to finish in 4th, with Justin Newberry coming from 12th to round out the top 5.

Wachter used his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over John Brockway and Chad Krogmeier. The action up front was slowed for the first and only time on lap 2, when Travis Hartman spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Jake Wenig, who started 6th, slipped past Wachter to grab the top spot away on lap 3. One lap later, lap 4, Tom Bowling Jr., who started 10th, slipped past Wachter for the runner up spot. Bowling Jr. tried to get under Wenig over the final 16 laps, as the two raced side-by-side at times off turn 4. But Wenig was able to hold him off to pick up his second win of the season at the track. Bowling Jr. settled for 2nd, John Oliver Jr. came from 9th to finish in 3rd, Dane Fenton was 4th, with Shane Watts coming home in 5th after starting in 8th.

Simmons held on for 2nd, Anders was 3rd, Sean Wyett came from 7th to finish in 4th, with Creston Williams recovering from his hit into the turn 4 wall in the heat to come from 14th to finish in 5th.
Up next was the 12 lap 4 Cylinder feature, with Daytona Fenton and Dustin Ravelin making up the front row for the event. But just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Roy Norton lost a right front tire in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Ravelin used his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Fenton and Ron Kibbe. The action up front was slowed for the second time on lap 5, as debris in turn 1 brought out the yellow. Ravelin moved back out front on the restart, with Fenton and Kibbe battling for the runner up spot. Five laps later, lap 10, debris in turn 3 brought out the final caution of the race to set up a 2 lap dash to the finish. On the restart Ravelin moved back out front, with Fenton and Kibbe close behind. Going down the backstretch on the final lap Ravelin's car slowed, which allowed Fenton and Kibbe to slip under him. Fenton then held off Kibbe at the line by inches to pick up his first career feature win. Kibbe settled for 2nd, Austen Becerra came from 8th to finish in 3rd, new comer Blake Anderson started 9th and finished in 4th, with Ravelin holding on to finish in 5th.
Shawn Whiting and Jacob Glasgow led the field to the green flag in the 305 Sprint feature. But just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Heath Bundy spun off turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Cody Wehrle got into the turn 3 wall and rolled to bring out the red. He would climb from the car okay. The following restart produced another red flag, as John Schulz, who was driving the #73 owned by Kenneth Bragg, rolled down the front stretch to bring the red light back on. He would climb from the car okay. A fourth attempt of a start saw Glasgow grab the lead on lap 1 over Whiting and Donnie Steward, who started 11th in his return to the 16HD car. Whiting's run up front came to a stop on lap 2, when he spun from his second place running spot to bring out the yellow. On the restart Nick Guernsey, who was running 5th, clipped the cone on the front stretch and brought out the caution. He was docked one spot on the restart. Steward jumped to the top of the track on the restart to grab the lead away from Glasgow and then started to pull away from the field. Steward looked like he was going to pick up the easy win, when on lap 14 he slowed to a stop off turn 4 with a blown motor. Shane Quam, who started 5th, inherited the lead on the restart and then went on to lead the final 6 laps to claim his first career feature win. Glasgow was 2nd, Daniel Bergquist came from 9th to finish in 3rd, Jayson Ditsworth passed 6 cars from his 10th place starting spot to finish in 4th, with Justin Newberry coming from 12th to round out the top 5.
The final feature up on the night was the 20 lap IMCA Stock Cars, with Wayne Landheer and Randy Wachter making up the front row for the event. Wachter used his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over John Brockway and Chad Krogmeier. The action up front was slowed for the first and only time on lap 2, when Travis Hartman spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Jake Wenig, who started 6th, slipped past Wachter to grab the top spot away on lap 3. One lap later, lap 4, Tom Bowling Jr., who started 10th, slipped past Wachter for the runner up spot. Bowling Jr. tried to get under Wenig over the final 16 laps, as the two raced side-by-side at times off turn 4. But Wenig was able to hold him off to pick up his second win of the season at the track. Bowling Jr. settled for 2nd, John Oliver Jr. came from 9th to finish in 3rd, Dane Fenton was 4th, with Shane Watts coming home in 5th after starting in 8th.

Williams Earns His Career First, While Kay Stays Hot at the Davenport Speedway
Davenport, IA (Friday, July 18, 2014) - Friday night at the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, IA was the final weekly points race before taking two weeks off for the Mississippi Valley Fair. Weekly racing action will resume on Friday, August 8th with the annual "4 Stock 50 Challenge", where the 4 Cylinders will be racing a 50 lap feature for $2,000 to win.
The first feature to take to the track on the night was the 15 lap IMCA SportMods, with Angie Feller and Jake Morris leading the field to the green. Morris would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Ricky Kay and Henry Carson, who started 8th. While Morris set a fast pace out front, Bryce Garnhart, who started 10th, was working his way towards the front. Barnhart, who was working the bottom of the track, had a side-by-side battle going for the runner up spot with Jacob Beal, when disaster struck Beal on lap 9. He would spin in turn 4 to bring out the first and only caution of the race, which also brought the field back to Morris' back bumper. On the restart Garnhart went to the bottom to take the top spot away from Morris on lap 10, with Dustin Crear, who started 9th, close behind. Crear would slip under Morris on lap 11 for the second spot and then went to work on chasing down Garnhart for the lead. But Garnhart would hold on over the final laps to pick up his third win of the season at the track. Crear settled for 2nd, Doug Burkhead came from 7th to finish in 3rd, Carson was 4th, with Kay coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 15 lap Street Stock feature, with Dan Anderson and Randy Lamar making up the front row for the event. Dan Anderson took advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Rick Schriner and Mike Anderson. Dan Anderson then held the top spot until lap 4, when Schriner went to the top of the track to grab the lead on lap 4. Just after the completion of lap 4 the first caution of the race appeared, as Jacob Whittington spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Cary Brown, who was running 3rd after starting in 7th, Donnie Louck, Perry Gellerstedt, Nick Claussen, Dwayne Smith Jr., Steve Cox and Bryan Ritter collided in turn 3 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Schriner jump back out front, with Lamar and Mike Anderson close behind. Schriner then started to pull away from the battle behind him, when he drifted off the track in turn 4 and fell from the lead to 11th. That would hand the lead over to Lamar. While Lamar led the field, Claussen, who was involved in the lap 4 crash, was working his way back up to the front. Claussen would slip into the runner up spot on lap 12 and then went to work on chasing down Lamar for the lead. He got some help on lap 13, when Mike Anderson, who was running 4th, spun in turn 2 and collected Whittington to bring out the yellow. On the restart Claussen slipped under Lamar to take over the top spot on lap 14. Coming out of turn 4 for the checkered flag Claussen would push up the track, while Lamar went off the track to allow Cord Williams to slip under them both to claim his first career feature win. Claussen settled for 2nd, Andrew Burk came from 14th to 3rd, Kevin Schloemer came from 11th and finished in 4th, with Schriner recovering from his early slip over the track to come back up to finish in 5th.
Rich Smith and Rob Henry led the field to the green flag in the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature, with Smith grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Milo Veloz Jr., who started 6th, and Henry. Smith then worked the next 3 laps to hold off Veloz for the lead, when the first caution of the event slowed the action. Rob Dominacki would spin in turn 3 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Smith jumped back out front, with Joe Beal, who started 8th, over taking Veloz for second who had Bob Dominacki glued to his back bumper. Bob Dominacki used the top of the speedway to get around Smith on lap 9 to grab the top spot away, with Beal following him close behind. Beal tried the low and middle grooves of the track to get around Bob Dominacki over the next 4 laps, when the second caution of the event slowed the battle up front. This time Jacob Waterman slipped over the track in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Bob Dominacki moved back out front, with Beal and Mitch Morris, who started 9th, close behind. Bob Dominacki, who was up top, Beal, who was running the middle, and Morris, who was on the bottom, had a nice three car battle for the lead going until the third caution of the race slowed the action. A deck panel flew off a car and was laying in the middle of the track in turn 1 would bring out the yellow. Once again Bob Dominacki grabbed the lead on the restart, with Beal glued to his back bumper. Coming to the white flag Bob Dominacki and Beal we dead even at the line to set up a great battle to the checkered flag. But when Rob Dominacki spun in turn 4 to bring out the final caution of the event, the feature was scored complete as the leaders had taken the white flag. Bob Dominacki was declared the winner, as he lead lap 19 by inches to claim his first win of the season at the track. Beal was 2nd, Morris was 3rd, Matt Werner was 4th after starting in 7th, with Doug Crampton coming home in 5th after starting in 12th.
Up next was the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature, with Duane Christensen and Chuck Hanna leading the field to the green flag. Hanna would use his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Christensen and Joe Zrostlik, who started 6th. The action up front was slowed for the first and only time on lap 2, when Jason Pestka spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Hanna jumped back out front, with Zrostlik working to hold back Justin Kay, who started 10th. Kay worked the bottom of the track to clear Zrostlik on lap 9 for the runner up spot and then used the same line to take over the top spot from Hanna on lap 11. Kay then pulled away over the final 14 laps to pick up his third win in a row and fifth in the last six weeks at the track. Zrostlik was 2nd, Hanna was 3rd, Todd Malmstrom started 8th and finished in 4th, with Nate Bueseling coming from 9th to round out the top 5.

On the restart Brandon Dahl moved back out front, with Zach Dahl glued to his back bumper. Zach Dahl tried to the low side and the middle of the track to get by Brandon Dahl over the final 9 laps. But Brandon Dahl was able to hold him off to claim his fourth win of the season at the track. Zach Dahl settled for 2nd, Andy Loy came from 6th to finish in 3rd, Jake Benischek was 4th, with Eric Stogdell finishing 5th after starting in 12th.

Moyer Beats the Field and Rain to Win at 34 Raceway's "The Hell Tour"
West Burlington, IA (Saturday, July 12, 2014) - For the second year in a row the UMP Summernationals "The Hell Tour" made a mid July visit to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on Saturday, July 12th. The winner of tonight's UMP Late Model feature would take home a top prize of $10,000. The weather forecast for the night was bleak, but when hot laps took to the track at 6:20 pm the sun was shining and it was very warm and humid. Thanks to the entire staff and the drivers the show was completed in 2 hours and 20 minutes!
The first feature to take to the track was the 10 lap Midget Lites, with Johnny Murdock and Mitchell Davis leading the field to the green flag. Murdock took advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Davis and Brayden Gaylord. Those top three cars raced side-by-side for the lead over the next 3 laps. When Davis slipped under Murdock on lap 5 to grab the top spot away. Davis then pulled away over the final 5 laps to claim the win in a caution free race. Gaylord won the battle for 2nd, Murdock held on for 3rd, Aaron Schuck was 4th, with Jeff Mallonee coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 40 lap UMP Late Model "The Hell Tour" feature, with Billy Moyer and Chris Simpson drawing the front row for the event. Simpson would take advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Shannon Babb, Brian Shirley, Moyer and Bobby Pierce. Simpson then started to pull away from the field and even started to lap cars by lap 8. But the first caution of the race appeared on lap 11 to bring the field back to Simpson's back bumper. Jay Johnson, who was running 9th, slowed to a stop in turn 1 with a right rear flat to bring out the yellow. On the restart Simpson jumped back out front, with Babb, Moyer, Pierce, and Brian Birkhofer, who started 7th, close behind. The action up front was slowed for the second and final time on lap 11, when a tire was clipped in turn 2 and pushed out into the racing surface to bring out the yellow. Simpson once again moved back out front on the restart, with Babb, Moyer, Birkhofer, and Pierce following behind. Simpson again started to pull away from the field, when he started to enter lapped traffic on lap 22. This would allow Moyer and Birkhofer to close in on him. Despite several attempts by Moyer to get under Simpson over the next 5 laps, Simpson was able to hold him off. But when Simpson jumped the cushion in turn 3 and almost got into the wall, this allowed Moyer and Birkhofer to shoot under him to move into first and second. Moyer then had to work to hold off Birkhofer over the final 22 laps. Despite lapped traffic racing two wide in front of him at times, Moyer was able to hold off Birkhofer to claim the win and the $10,000 top prize. Birkhofer settled for 2nd, Simpson was 3rd, Brandon Sheppard came from 9th to finish in 4th, with Tanner English rounding out the top 5.
The final feature to take to the track was the 15 lap IMCA SportMods, with Creston Williams and Tom Lathrop making up the front row. But it was third place starter Bradley Holtmeyer who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Williams and Kyle Hill. Williams used the top of the track to take the top spot away from Holtmeyer on lap 2 and then worked to hold him off over the next 7 laps. When the first caution of the race came out on lap 9. Scott Williams would spin down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart Creston Williams moved back out front, with Holtmeyer and Sean Wyett, who started 8th, close behind. The action up front was slowed for the second and final time on lap 11, as Dakota Simmons spun down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. Creston Williams once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Wyett over taking Holtmeyer for the second spot. With Wyett, who was running the top, and Holtmeyer, who was on the bottom, battling side-by-side for second, this allowed Creston Williams to hold on over the final 4 laps to claim his second career SportMod feature win in as many weeks at the track. He was followed by Justin Reed, Jay Johnson, Tanner English and Jason Riggs....Bobby Pierce set fast time in Group 3 Qualifying with a time of 15.430. He was followed by Brian Shirley, Spencer Diercks, Brandon Sheppard and Jason Feger....Up next was three 10 lap heat races, with the top 5 out of those moving on into the 40 lap A Main. The rest would go to the C Main....Heat race one saw Chris Simpson use his outside front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Babb and Birkhofer. Simpson would hold on to pick up the win. Followed by Babb, Birkhofer, Unzicker, Todd Frank, Jason Rauen, who started 9th, Griffin, Jason Utter, and Robby Warner....Justin Reed also used his outside front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Moyer, English and Johnson. But when Reed jumped the cushion in turn 2 on lap 6, this allowed Moyer to slip under him for the lead. One lap later, lap 7, Reed pulled into the pits with a right rear flat to end his run up front. Moyer would go on to pick up the win. Followed by English, Johnson, Riggs, Brian Harris, Skip Frey, who started 9th, Gary Christian, Reed, and Steve Lance Jr....Just like the two previous heats, Brian Shirley used his outside front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 of heat three. He then held off Bobby Pierce to pick up the win. They were followed by Sheppard, Feger, Diercks, Denny Woodworth, Mark Burgtorf, and Ray Guss Jr.....The 10 lap C Main was up next, with the top 3 out of that race earning a spot in the 40 lap A Main. Rauen jumped out front on lap 1 over Frey, Woodworth and Griffin. While Rauen pulled away from the field the battle was heating up behind him, as Frey, Griffin and Woodworth battled for the final transfer spot. Griffin and Woodworth used lap traffic late in the race to move past Frey to claim 2nd and 3rd, behind winner Rauen....Ryan Unzicker started the A Main in 10th and finished 6th, the only car left on the lead lap....Rauen passed 9 cars from his 16th place starting spot to come home in 7th....Jason Riggs came from 11th to finish in 8th....Griffin passed 8 cars from his 17th place starting spot to finish in 9th....Denny Woodworth also passed 8 cars from his 18th place starting spot to come home in 10th....Steve Lance Jr. got an UMP provisional to start the feature in 19th. He passed 8 cars to finish in 11th....Bobby Pierce, who was running 3rd, pulled off on lap 13 with a broke power steering pump to end his night in 14th....Shannon Babb pulled off on lap 12 with troubles, while running 2nd, to end his run in 15th....Brian Shirley was running 3rd, when he pulled in on lap 7 with troubles to end his night in 18th....Jason Feger's night ended on lap 3, when he pulled off with troubles while running 9th to come home in 21st......Rodney Bliesner returned behind the wheel of a race car tonight, after many years of leaving the sport. He would race one of Johnny Murdock's Midgets, but mechanical troubles early in the feature ended his night in 11th......Bobby Anders started 9th in the SportMod feature and came home in 6th....David Cloke made his debut in the SportMods and started 12th. He would come home with a 9th place finish....Brian Woodruff also made his debut in the SportMods and finished 11th after starting in 14th....The son of past racer Doak Allen Jr., Ethan Allen also made his debut in a SportMod. He would start in 13th and finished in 13th.
A big shout out to the entire staff at 34 Raceway's and the drivers for moving the show along as fast as they did, with weather moving in from the northwest. About 20 minutes after the final checkered fell at 8:40 pm, the skies would open up and poured on the facilities.
The first feature to take to the track was the 10 lap Midget Lites, with Johnny Murdock and Mitchell Davis leading the field to the green flag. Murdock took advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Davis and Brayden Gaylord. Those top three cars raced side-by-side for the lead over the next 3 laps. When Davis slipped under Murdock on lap 5 to grab the top spot away. Davis then pulled away over the final 5 laps to claim the win in a caution free race. Gaylord won the battle for 2nd, Murdock held on for 3rd, Aaron Schuck was 4th, with Jeff Mallonee coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 40 lap UMP Late Model "The Hell Tour" feature, with Billy Moyer and Chris Simpson drawing the front row for the event. Simpson would take advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Shannon Babb, Brian Shirley, Moyer and Bobby Pierce. Simpson then started to pull away from the field and even started to lap cars by lap 8. But the first caution of the race appeared on lap 11 to bring the field back to Simpson's back bumper. Jay Johnson, who was running 9th, slowed to a stop in turn 1 with a right rear flat to bring out the yellow. On the restart Simpson jumped back out front, with Babb, Moyer, Pierce, and Brian Birkhofer, who started 7th, close behind. The action up front was slowed for the second and final time on lap 11, when a tire was clipped in turn 2 and pushed out into the racing surface to bring out the yellow. Simpson once again moved back out front on the restart, with Babb, Moyer, Birkhofer, and Pierce following behind. Simpson again started to pull away from the field, when he started to enter lapped traffic on lap 22. This would allow Moyer and Birkhofer to close in on him. Despite several attempts by Moyer to get under Simpson over the next 5 laps, Simpson was able to hold him off. But when Simpson jumped the cushion in turn 3 and almost got into the wall, this allowed Moyer and Birkhofer to shoot under him to move into first and second. Moyer then had to work to hold off Birkhofer over the final 22 laps. Despite lapped traffic racing two wide in front of him at times, Moyer was able to hold off Birkhofer to claim the win and the $10,000 top prize. Birkhofer settled for 2nd, Simpson was 3rd, Brandon Sheppard came from 9th to finish in 4th, with Tanner English rounding out the top 5.
The final feature to take to the track was the 15 lap IMCA SportMods, with Creston Williams and Tom Lathrop making up the front row. But it was third place starter Bradley Holtmeyer who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Williams and Kyle Hill. Williams used the top of the track to take the top spot away from Holtmeyer on lap 2 and then worked to hold him off over the next 7 laps. When the first caution of the race came out on lap 9. Scott Williams would spin down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart Creston Williams moved back out front, with Holtmeyer and Sean Wyett, who started 8th, close behind. The action up front was slowed for the second and final time on lap 11, as Dakota Simmons spun down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. Creston Williams once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Wyett over taking Holtmeyer for the second spot. With Wyett, who was running the top, and Holtmeyer, who was on the bottom, battling side-by-side for second, this allowed Creston Williams to hold on over the final 4 laps to claim his second career SportMod feature win in as many weeks at the track. Wyett won the battle for 2nd, Holtmeyer was 3rd, Joey Gower was 4th, with Hill coming home in 5th.

Jenae Gustin Makes History at the Independence Motor Speedway
Independence, IA (Saturday, July 5, 2014) - With all the tracks in Southeast Iowa rained out or not racing, I decided to make the trip north to the Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, Iowa to get my Saturday night feel of racing. The night featured make-up features in the IMCA Modifieds and Stock Cars, as well as regular racing in the IMCA Late Models, IMCA SportMods, and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
Up first on the night was the 18 lap make-up IMCA Stock Car feature, with Jason Niedert and Justin Hanson on the front row. Hanson took advantage of his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Niedert and Justin Stander. Hanson then held the top spot until lap 7, when Brian Irvine, who started 9th, quickly worked his way to the front to grab the lead. Irvine then started to pull away from the field until the first and only caution of the race appeared on lap 13. Phil Holtz spun off turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Irvine moved back out front, with Justin Temeyer, who started 10th, glued to his back bumper. Despite several attempts by Temeyer to get under Irvine over the final 5 laps, Irvine was able to hold on to pick up his third win in his third start of the season at the track. Temeyer settled for 2nd, Jarod Weepie came from 8th to finish in 3rd, Hanson was 4th, with Scott Pippert coming from 12th to round out the top 5.
Up next was the 20 lap make-up feature for the IMCA Modifieds, with Ed Thomas and Jeff Kriz leading the field to the green flag. Kriz jumped out front from his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Thomas and Adam Johnson. Kriz then started to pull away from the field, when the first caution appeared on lap 13. Patrick Flannagan, who was running 5th, spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Kriz jumped back out front, but now had Vern Jackson, who started 6th, and J.D. Auringer, who started 8th, glued to his back bumper. Both Jackson and Auringer tried to get under Kriz for the top spot, when the second caution of the event slowed the action up front on lap 17. This time Zach Less spun off turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Kriz once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Auringer over taking Jackson for the runner up spot. Auringer's run up front came to an end on lap 19, when he spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow and set up a two lap overtime dash to the finish. On the restart Kriz moved out front, with Jackson and Flannagan, who came from the rear after his spin on lap 13, close behind. Jackson tried to work under Kriz on the final lap, but Kriz was able to hold him off to claim his first ever feature win at the Independence Motor Speedway. Jackson held on for 2nd, Flannagan was 3rd, Tyler Droste came from 7th to finish in 4th, with Troy Cordes coming from 10th to finish in 5th.
The first regular feature to take to the track was the 15 lap IMCA SportMods, with Jacob Salisbury and Brian Hilbert making up the front row for the event. But just as the green flag waved the caution would come out, as Dave Burrell spun off the track in turns 1 and 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Lucas Lundry, Creston Williams, Tracy Wassenberg, Jason Doyle, Mark Maas, and Jim Aschenbrenner all collided in turn 2 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Salisbury grab the lead on lap 1 over Hilbert and Jim Buhlman, who started 7th. Just as Salisbury started to pull away from the field, the third caution of the race appeared on lap 7. This time Tony Olson, who started 11th and had worked his way to 6th, spun in turn 2 from contact from Lundry, who worked his way back up front after the crash on lap 1, to bring out the yellow. On the restart Kyle Bentley, Dave Schulze, Doyle and Maas collided down the front stretch to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Salisbury moved back out front, with Jenae Gustin, who started 9th, and Kevin Hurst, who started 8th, close behind. Gustin used the bottom of the track to grab the top spot away from Salisbury on lap 9 and then pulled away to pick up the win. With the win Gustin made history at the Independence Motor Speedway by becoming the first driver to win three SportMod features in a row, it was also her fifth win in the last six weeks and sixth overall of the season at the track. Salisbury settled for 2nd, Hurst was 3rd, Buhlman was 4th, with K.C. Ansel passing 15 cars from his 20th place starting spot to come home in 5th.
Up next was the 15 lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature, with Matt Burmeister and Matt Lundry on the front row for the event. Burmeister would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Lundry and Marcus Wayne. Matt White, who started 7th, used the bottom of the track to slip past Burmeister on lap 6 and then held off Jamie Whitaker, who started 5th, on the final lap to claim his second win of the season at the track in a caution free race. Whitaker settled for 2nd, Wayne was 3rd, Lundry was 4th, with Brian Happel came from 14th to finish in 5th.
Joel Brasch and Chris Snyder led the field to green in the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature. But just as the green was waved the caution would come out, as Scott Welsh spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Jon Passick, who started 7th, used the bottom of the track to quickly charge to the front to lead lap 1 over Brasch and Snyder. Just after the completion of lap 1 Snyder spun in turn 4 and collects Greg Kastli, Jon Poll, and Rory Metcalf to bring the caution out. On the restart Brasch, who was running 2nd, spun in front of the field in turn 2 and collects Jason Rauen, Tyler Droste, Tyler Bruening, Jerry King, and Brian Hunter to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Passick jump back out front, with Curt Martin, who started 8th, and Dean Wagner, who started 6th, close behind. While Passick set a fast pace out front, another driver was working his way towards the front just as fast. John Emerson, a rookie Late Model driver this season after moving up from the Stock Car class, started 23rd and had worked his way up to 3rd by lap 10. Emerson then over took Martin on lap 23 for second and then went to work on chasing down Passick for the lead. Thanks to lapped traffic Emerson was able to close on Passick coming to the white flag, but Passick was able to hold him off at the line to pick up his first win of the season the the track. Emerson settled for 2nd, Martin was 3rd, Wagner was 4th, with Darren Ackerman passing 11 cars from his 16th place starting spot to come home in 5th.
Up next was the regular IMCA Stock Car feature, with Cody Frerichs and Cole Mather leading the field to the green. Frerichs would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Mather and Jason Hocken. Just after the completion of lap 1 the first caution came out, as Jeremy Pundt spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Hocken over took Frerichs and Mather to take over the top spot. But another lap scored, lap 2, produced another caution, as Ken Taylor spun in turn 2 and collects Pundt and Mitchell Evens to bring out the yellow. Hocken jumped back out front on the restart, with Brian Irvine, who started 12th, and Justin Stander, who started 6th, following close behind. Irvine's run up front came to a halt on lap 3, as he and Frerichs went over the track down the backstretch to bring out the caution. Once again Hocken moved out front on the restart, with Stander working to hold back Justin Temeyer, who started 11th, in the battle for second. The action up front was slowed for the fourth time, as Justin Hanson spun in turn 2 on lap 8 to bring out the caution. Hocken again jumped out front on the restart, with Temeyer and Jarod Weepie, who started 10th, close behind. Just as Temeyer looked like he had Hocken cleared for the lead on lap 10, the caution would come out to erase his move. This time Matt Brown spun in turn 2 and collects Russell Damme Jr. to bring out the yellow. On the restart Hocken moved back out front, with Temeyer working to hold back Irvine, who came from the rear after changing a left rear flat on the lap 3 caution. Irvine jumped to the bottom of the track to slip under Hocken for the top spot, and then was slow one lap later, lap 14, for the final caution of the event. Taylor would spin in turn 2 to bring out the caution. On the restart Irvine moved back out front, with Temeyer and Weepie close behind. Irvine would lead the final 4 laps to claim his 4th win in four starts at the track, and his second on the night. Temeyer settled for his second 2nd on the night, Weepie picked up his second 3rd place finish on the night, Hocken was 4th, with Stander holding on for 5th.
The final feature to take to the track on the night was the 20 lap regular IMCA Modified feature, with Jake Strayer and Mike Burbridge making up the front row for the event. Burbridge used his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Strayer and Ed Thomas. Just as Burbridge started to pull away from the battle behind him, the first and only caution of the event appeared on lap 10. Mike Manson would spin in turn 2 and collected Josh Barta to bring out the yellow. On the restart Burbridge jumped back out front, with Strayer and Thomas following. With Burbridge out front, Troy Cordes, who started 13th, was working his way to the front. Burbridge, who was running the bottom, and Cordes, who was up top, raced lap 15 side-by-side, with Cordes edging out Burbridge at the line by inches to grab the top spot away on lap 16. Cordes, fresh of his $10,000 win the the "After Market Nationals" at the Farley Speedway in Farley, IA on Thursday night, pulled away over the final 4 laps to claim his second win of the season at the track. Vern Jackson claimed his second 2nd place finish on the night, after starting in 8th, Burbridge was 3rd, Strayer held on for 4th, with Thomas rounding out the top 5.
Notes from Indy: 28 SportMods, 26 Modifieds, 24 Late Models, 24 Stock Cars, and 15 Hobby Stocks made up the 117 cars signed in on the night......Russell Damme Jr. started the make-up Stock Car feature in 14th and passed 6 cars to finish in 8th....Just Stander recovered from his flat on the lap 13 caution to come back up to finish 9th....Phil Holtz recovered from his spin on lap 13 to come back up to finish in 10th....Matt Brown came from 15th to finish in 11th....Paul Shepherd didn't return to run the make-up feature......Scott Hogan started the make-up Modified feature in 11th and passed 5 cars to finish in 6th....Adam Johnson, who was running 3rd, spun in turn 4 on lap 14, but kept going. He fell to the rear, but recovered to bring home a 8th place finish....J.D. Auringer recovered from his lap 19 spin to come back up to finish in 9th....Josh Barta came from 15th to finish in 12th....Jason Morehouse came from 17th to finish in 13th....Scott Drake, Terry Johnson and Dennis Betzer all never returned to run the make-up feature......Alex Zwanziger started the SportMod feature in 15th and passed 8 cars to finish in 7th....Tony Olson recovered from his spin on lap 7 to come back up to finish in 8th....Tyler Soppe started 12th and finished 9th....Danny Dvorak came from 16th to finish in 10th....Jason Doyle recovered from his involvement in the crash on lap 7 restart to come back up to finish in 11th....Dave Schulze also recovered from the crash on the lap 7 restart to come back up to finish in 13th....Kyle Bentley recovered from the crash on the lap 7 restart to come back up to finish in 14th....Kevin Robinson started 23rd and passed 7 cars to come home in 15th....Ryan Maitland who suffered front end damage in the lap 1 crash, returned to the track on lap 7 and finished 16th....Sean Vogt, Synjun Bauer, Steve Wimer and Joe Harken all didn't qualify out of the B Main......Jeremiah Wilson started the Hobby Stock feature in 12th and passed 6 cars to finish in 6th......Joel Callahan started the Late Model feature in 12th and passed 6 cars to finish in 6th....Jason Rauen, who started 11th, recovered from the lap 1 crash to come back up to finish in 7th....Jerry King, who started 15th, also recovered from the lap 1 crash to come back up to finish in 8th....Dale Hackwell Jr. passed 9 cars from his 19th place starting spot to finish in 10th....Dirk Hamilton passed 9 cars from his 20th place starting spot to come home in 11th....Tyler Droste recovered from the lap 1 crash to come back up to finish in 13th....Rory Metcalf also recovered from the lap 1 crash to come back up to finish in 14th....Drew Johnson came from 24th to finish in 15th....Joel Brasch recovered from his spin on lap 1 to come back up to finish in 16th....Leon Thomsen came from 22nd to finish in 17th......Jim Lynch made the pull up from Kahoka, Missouri and started the Stock Car feature in 15th. He then passed 6 cars to finish in 9th....Kevin Rose came from 22nd to finish in 11th....Wayne Landheer made the pull up from Gladstone, Illinois and started 18th. He then passed 5 cars to come home in 13th....Justin Hanson recovered from his lap 8 spin to come back up to finish in 14th....Jason Niedert passed 6 cars from his 21st place starting spot to come home in 15th....Russell Damme Jr. who started 24th, recovered from his involvement in the lap 10 caution to come back up to finish in 16th......Ron Lauritzen started the Modified feature in 11th and finished in 6th....Scott Hogan passed 8 cars from his 17th place starting spot to come home in 9th....Josh Sherbon passed 10 cars from his 21st place starting spot to come home in 11th....Jason Bahrs suffered to much front end damage in the heat that forced him to scratch from the feature....Jason Morehouse suffered to much troubles in his heat to force him to scratch from the feature.

Patrick Flannagan, who was running 5th, spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Kriz jumped back out front, but now had Vern Jackson, who started 6th, and J.D. Auringer, who started 8th, glued to his back bumper. Both Jackson and Auringer tried to get under Kriz for the top spot, when the second caution of the event slowed the action up front on lap 17. This time Zach Less spun off turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Kriz once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Auringer over taking Jackson for the runner up spot. Auringer's run up front came to an end on lap 19, when he spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow and set up a two lap overtime dash to the finish. On the restart Kriz moved out front, with Jackson and Flannagan, who came from the rear after his spin on lap 13, close behind. Jackson tried to work under Kriz on the final lap, but Kriz was able to hold him off to claim his first ever feature win at the Independence Motor Speedway. Jackson held on for 2nd, Flannagan was 3rd, Tyler Droste came from 7th to finish in 4th, with Troy Cordes coming from 10th to finish in 5th.
The first regular feature to take to the track was the 15 lap IMCA SportMods, with Jacob Salisbury and Brian Hilbert making up the front row for the event. But just as the green flag waved the caution would come out, as Dave Burrell spun off the track in turns 1 and 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Lucas Lundry, Creston Williams, Tracy Wassenberg, Jason Doyle, Mark Maas, and Jim Aschenbrenner all collided in turn 2 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Salisbury grab the lead on lap 1 over Hilbert and Jim Buhlman, who started 7th. Just as Salisbury started to pull away from the field, the third caution of the race appeared on lap 7. This time Tony Olson, who started 11th and had worked his way to 6th, spun in turn 2 from contact from Lundry, who worked his way back up front after the crash on lap 1, to bring out the yellow. On the restart Kyle Bentley, Dave Schulze, Doyle and Maas collided down the front stretch to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Salisbury moved back out front, with Jenae Gustin, who started 9th, and Kevin Hurst, who started 8th, close behind. Gustin used the bottom of the track to grab the top spot away from Salisbury on lap 9 and then pulled away to pick up the win. With the win Gustin made history at the Independence Motor Speedway by becoming the first driver to win three SportMod features in a row, it was also her fifth win in the last six weeks and sixth overall of the season at the track. Salisbury settled for 2nd, Hurst was 3rd, Buhlman was 4th, with K.C. Ansel passing 15 cars from his 20th place starting spot to come home in 5th.
Up next was the 15 lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature, with Matt Burmeister and Matt Lundry on the front row for the event. Burmeister would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Lundry and Marcus Wayne. Matt White, who started 7th, used the bottom of the track to slip past Burmeister on lap 6 and then held off Jamie Whitaker, who started 5th, on the final lap to claim his second win of the season at the track in a caution free race. Whitaker settled for 2nd, Wayne was 3rd, Lundry was 4th, with Brian Happel came from 14th to finish in 5th.
Joel Brasch and Chris Snyder led the field to green in the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature. But just as the green was waved the caution would come out, as Scott Welsh spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Jon Passick, who started 7th, used the bottom of the track to quickly charge to the front to lead lap 1 over Brasch and Snyder. Just after the completion of lap 1 Snyder spun in turn 4 and collects Greg Kastli, Jon Poll, and Rory Metcalf to bring the caution out. On the restart Brasch, who was running 2nd, spun in front of the field in turn 2 and collects Jason Rauen, Tyler Droste, Tyler Bruening, Jerry King, and Brian Hunter to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Passick jump back out front, with Curt Martin, who started 8th, and Dean Wagner, who started 6th, close behind. While Passick set a fast pace out front, another driver was working his way towards the front just as fast. John Emerson, a rookie Late Model driver this season after moving up from the Stock Car class, started 23rd and had worked his way up to 3rd by lap 10. Emerson then over took Martin on lap 23 for second and then went to work on chasing down Passick for the lead. Thanks to lapped traffic Emerson was able to close on Passick coming to the white flag, but Passick was able to hold him off at the line to pick up his first win of the season the the track. Emerson settled for 2nd, Martin was 3rd, Wagner was 4th, with Darren Ackerman passing 11 cars from his 16th place starting spot to come home in 5th.
Up next was the regular IMCA Stock Car feature, with Cody Frerichs and Cole Mather leading the field to the green. Frerichs would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Mather and Jason Hocken. Just after the completion of lap 1 the first caution came out, as Jeremy Pundt spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Hocken over took Frerichs and Mather to take over the top spot. But another lap scored, lap 2, produced another caution, as Ken Taylor spun in turn 2 and collects Pundt and Mitchell Evens to bring out the yellow. Hocken jumped back out front on the restart, with Brian Irvine, who started 12th, and Justin Stander, who started 6th, following close behind. Irvine's run up front came to a halt on lap 3, as he and Frerichs went over the track down the backstretch to bring out the caution. Once again Hocken moved out front on the restart, with Stander working to hold back Justin Temeyer, who started 11th, in the battle for second. The action up front was slowed for the fourth time, as Justin Hanson spun in turn 2 on lap 8 to bring out the caution. Hocken again jumped out front on the restart, with Temeyer and Jarod Weepie, who started 10th, close behind. Just as Temeyer looked like he had Hocken cleared for the lead on lap 10, the caution would come out to erase his move. This time Matt Brown spun in turn 2 and collects Russell Damme Jr. to bring out the yellow. On the restart Hocken moved back out front, with Temeyer working to hold back Irvine, who came from the rear after changing a left rear flat on the lap 3 caution. Irvine jumped to the bottom of the track to slip under Hocken for the top spot, and then was slow one lap later, lap 14, for the final caution of the event. Taylor would spin in turn 2 to bring out the caution. On the restart Irvine moved back out front, with Temeyer and Weepie close behind. Irvine would lead the final 4 laps to claim his 4th win in four starts at the track, and his second on the night. Temeyer settled for his second 2nd on the night, Weepie picked up his second 3rd place finish on the night, Hocken was 4th, with Stander holding on for 5th.
The final feature to take to the track on the night was the 20 lap regular IMCA Modified feature, with Jake Strayer and Mike Burbridge making up the front row for the event. Burbridge used his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Strayer and Ed Thomas. Just as Burbridge started to pull away from the battle behind him, the first and only caution of the event appeared on lap 10. Mike Manson would spin in turn 2 and collected Josh Barta to bring out the yellow. On the restart Burbridge jumped back out front, with Strayer and Thomas following. With Burbridge out front, Troy Cordes, who started 13th, was working his way to the front. Burbridge, who was running the bottom, and Cordes, who was up top, raced lap 15 side-by-side, with Cordes edging out Burbridge at the line by inches to grab the top spot away on lap 16. Cordes, fresh of his $10,000 win the the "After Market Nationals" at the Farley Speedway in Farley, IA on Thursday night, pulled away over the final 4 laps to claim his second win of the season at the track. Vern Jackson claimed his second 2nd place finish on the night, after starting in 8th, Burbridge was 3rd, Strayer held on for 4th, with Thomas rounding out the top 5.

Marquette Cashes In at the Davenport Speedway
Davenport, IA (Friday, July 4, 2014) - Friday, July 4th was the Annual "Street Stock Clash" at the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, IA, as the Street Stocks raced a 50 lap feature with $2,000 going to the winner. Also in action was the IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods and 4 Stocks.
The first feature to take to the track was the 15 lap IMCA SportMods, with Jake Morris and David Norton leading the field to the green. Morris would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Norton and Bryce Garnhart, who started 5th. The action was slowed for the first time on lap 4, when Doug Burkhead spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. On the restart Tyler Soppe, who started 6th, jumped to the top of the track to grab the lead on lap 5. Just after the lap was scored complete, Jake Montoya spun in turn 4 to bring out the second caution of the event. Soppe jumped back out front on the restart, with Eric Pollard, who started 10th, over taking Garnhart for second. But just as lap 6 was scored complete, Norton would spin in turn 4 to bring out the third caution of the race. On the restart Soppe moved back out front, with Garnhart slipping past Pollard to take the runner up spot back. Garnhart tried to work under Soppe over the next 4 laps, when the fourth caution of the event appeared on lap 10. This time Ricky Kay, who started 8th and was running 6th, spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Jared Miller, spun in turn 1 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Soppe jump back out front, with Garnhart in second and Dustin Crear moving up to third. Despite several attempts by Garnhart to get under Soppe over the final 5 laps, Soppe was able to hold on to claim his second win of the season at the track. Garnhart settled for 2nd, Crear was 3rd, Pollard was 4th, with Jarrett Franzen coming from 17th to round out the top 5.
Up next was the 12 lap 4 Stock feature, with Sean Fersch and Zach Dahl leading the field to the drop of the green flag. Zach Dahl took advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Jake Benischek and Aaron Hitt, who started 6th. Zach Dahl then held the lead until lap 4, when Benischek jumped to his outside to take over the top spot. Brandon Dahl, who started 7th, moved into second on lap 8 and then went to work on Benischek for the lead. But Benischek was able to hold off Brandon Dahl to pick up his first win of the season at the track. Brandon Dahl was 2nd, Zach Dahl was 3rd, Andy Loy was 4th, with Hitt coming home in 5th.
Rich Smith and Craig Crawford made up the front row for the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature, with Smith grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Crawford and Bruce Fosdyck Sr. While Smith started to pull away from the field, the action behind him was fierce, as Crawford, Doug Crampton, who started 8th, Ton VonDresky, who started 6th, and Jason Bahrs, who started 11th, all battling for the runner up spot. The field was brought back to Smith's back bumper on lap 12, when Milo Veloz Jr. spun in turn 2 to bring out the first caution. On the restart Smith moved back out front, with VonDresky, Crampton and Crawford battling for second. Bahrs' run to the front came to an end on lap 16 when contact from Brian Bushong sent Bahrs spinning in turn 4 to bring out the yellow, as the two were battling for the sixth spot. On the restart Fosdyck Sr. spun in turn 1 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Smith grab the lead over VonDresky with Bruce Hanford coming from 12th to over take Crampton for third. Smith would go on to lead the final 4 laps to pick up his first win of the season at the track. VonDresky was 2nd, Hanford was 3rd, Crampton was 4th, with Mitch Morris coming from 10th to finish in 5th.
Up next was the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature, with Ben Nading and Stephan Kammerer making up the front row. Nading took advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Joe Zrostlik and Kammerer. The action up front was slowed for the first time on lap 4, when Jonathon Brauns came to a stop down the front stretch to bring out the caution. On the restart Nading jumped back out front, with Mike Murphy Jr., who started 9th, and Brunson Behning close behind. But just as lap 5 was scored complete, the second caution appeared. Gary Webb spun in turn 2 from contact from Chad Holladay to bring out the yellow. On the restart Murphy Jr. would slip past Nading to grab the lead on lap 6. Murphy Jr. then worked to try to hold off Justin Kay, who started 11th and moved to second on lap 7. The battle out front was slowed on lap 14, when Behning, who was running 4th, spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. Once again Murphy Jr. jumped out front on the restart, with Kay close behind in second. The final caution of the race appeared on lap 18, as Matt Ryan, who was running 6th, got spun by Luke Merfeld, who started 20th and worked his way to 7th, to bring out the yellow. Murphy Jr. once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Kay and Andy Nezworski close behind. Murphy Jr., who was working the bottom, tried to hold off Kay, who was running up top, over the next 3 laps. But Kay used the top of the track to grab the top spot away on lap 22 and then held on to claim his fourth win of the season at the track. Murphy Jr. settled for 2nd, Nezworski was 3rd, Ray Guss Jr. came from 10th to finish in 4th, with Nading holding on for 5th.
The final feature to take to the track was the 50 lap Street Stocks, with Chad Coyne and Kevin Dickey drawing the front row for the event. Coyne would grab the lead on lap 1 over Rob Nylin and Dickey, only to give it up to Nylin on lap 2. Nylin then worked to hold off Coyne and Dickey until lap 6, when the first caution came out to slow the action. Justin Yarolem slowed to a stop off turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Nylin jumped back out front, with Gene Ehlers moving into second. While Nylin worked the bottom of the track, Dickey was up top and used the momentum to take over the top spot on lap 11. Just as the lap was scored complete, Shawn Flagel, Cary Brown, Steve Jackson and Josh Neal collided in turn 2 to bring out the caution. On the restart Dickey jumped back out front, with Nylin working to hold back Jeremy Marquette for the runner up spot. The action up front was slowed on lap 18, when Andrew Burk spun in turn 3 from contact from Perry Gellerstedt to bring out the caution. On the restart Donnie Louck, who started 18th, used the top of the track to grab the top spot on lap 19. One lap later, lap 20, another caution appeared on the track, as Coyne spun down the backstretch from contact Flagel to bring out the yellow. On the restart Ehlers ended up rolling in turn 2 after contact from Marquette, which brought out the red flag. Ehlers climbed from his car okay. Louck jumped back out front on the restart, with teammate Andy Nezworski and Joe Bonney, who started 9th, close behind. The top three of Louck, Nezworksi and Dickey all had there runs up front come to an end on lap 34, as Nezworski and Dickey spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Under the yellow Louck would come to a stop down the front stretch with front end troubles to end his night. On the restart Marquette, who recovered from his involvement in the red on lap 20, grabbed the lead, with Jarrett Franzen, who started 10th, close behind in second. Just after the completion of lap 35, Coyne would come to a stop in turn 3 to bring the yellow out. Once again Marquette moved back out front on the restart, with Franzen and Neal, who recovered from the crash on lap 11, close behind. But another lap scored, lap 36, brought out the final caution of the race. This time Nylin came to a stop in turn 4 with right front troubles to bring out the yellow. Marquette moved back out front on the restart and then went on to lead the final 14 laps to pick up the win and the $2,000 top prize. Nezworski recovered from the spin on lap 34 to come back up to finish in 2nd, Franzen was 3rd, Cord Williams came from 7th to finish in 4th, with Neal recovering from his lap 11 crash to come back up to finish 5th.

The following restart saw Smith grab the lead over VonDresky with Bruce Hanford coming from 12th to over take Crampton for third. Smith would go on to lead the final 4 laps to pick up his first win of the season at the track. VonDresky was 2nd, Hanford was 3rd, Crampton was 4th, with Mitch Morris coming from 10th to finish in 5th.
Up next was the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature, with Ben Nading and Stephan Kammerer making up the front row. Nading took advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Joe Zrostlik and Kammerer. The action up front was slowed for the first time on lap 4, when Jonathon Brauns came to a stop down the front stretch to bring out the caution. On the restart Nading jumped back out front, with Mike Murphy Jr., who started 9th, and Brunson Behning close behind. But just as lap 5 was scored complete, the second caution appeared. Gary Webb spun in turn 2 from contact from Chad Holladay to bring out the yellow. On the restart Murphy Jr. would slip past Nading to grab the lead on lap 6. Murphy Jr. then worked to try to hold off Justin Kay, who started 11th and moved to second on lap 7. The battle out front was slowed on lap 14, when Behning, who was running 4th, spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. Once again Murphy Jr. jumped out front on the restart, with Kay close behind in second. The final caution of the race appeared on lap 18, as Matt Ryan, who was running 6th, got spun by Luke Merfeld, who started 20th and worked his way to 7th, to bring out the yellow. Murphy Jr. once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Kay and Andy Nezworski close behind. Murphy Jr., who was working the bottom, tried to hold off Kay, who was running up top, over the next 3 laps. But Kay used the top of the track to grab the top spot away on lap 22 and then held on to claim his fourth win of the season at the track. Murphy Jr. settled for 2nd, Nezworski was 3rd, Ray Guss Jr. came from 10th to finish in 4th, with Nading holding on for 5th.
The final feature to take to the track was the 50 lap Street Stocks, with Chad Coyne and Kevin Dickey drawing the front row for the event. Coyne would grab the lead on lap 1 over Rob Nylin and Dickey, only to give it up to Nylin on lap 2. Nylin then worked to hold off Coyne and Dickey until lap 6, when the first caution came out to slow the action. Justin Yarolem slowed to a stop off turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Nylin jumped back out front, with Gene Ehlers moving into second. While Nylin worked the bottom of the track, Dickey was up top and used the momentum to take over the top spot on lap 11. Just as the lap was scored complete, Shawn Flagel, Cary Brown, Steve Jackson and Josh Neal collided in turn 2 to bring out the caution. On the restart Dickey jumped back out front, with Nylin working to hold back Jeremy Marquette for the runner up spot. The action up front was slowed on lap 18, when Andrew Burk spun in turn 3 from contact from Perry Gellerstedt to bring out the caution. On the restart Donnie Louck, who started 18th, used the top of the track to grab the top spot on lap 19. One lap later, lap 20, another caution appeared on the track, as Coyne spun down the backstretch from contact Flagel to bring out the yellow. On the restart Ehlers ended up rolling in turn 2 after contact from Marquette, which brought out the red flag. Ehlers climbed from his car okay. Louck jumped back out front on the restart, with teammate Andy Nezworski and Joe Bonney, who started 9th, close behind. The top three of Louck, Nezworksi and Dickey all had there runs up front come to an end on lap 34, as Nezworski and Dickey spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Under the yellow Louck would come to a stop down the front stretch with front end troubles to end his night. On the restart Marquette, who recovered from his involvement in the red on lap 20, grabbed the lead, with Jarrett Franzen, who started 10th, close behind in second. Just after the completion of lap 35, Coyne would come to a stop in turn 3 to bring the yellow out. Once again Marquette moved back out front on the restart, with Franzen and Neal, who recovered from the crash on lap 11, close behind. But another lap scored, lap 36, brought out the final caution of the race. This time Nylin came to a stop in turn 4 with right front troubles to bring out the yellow. Marquette moved back out front on the restart and then went on to lead the final 14 laps to pick up the win and the $2,000 top prize. Nezworski recovered from the spin on lap 34 to come back up to finish in 2nd, Franzen was 3rd, Cord Williams came from 7th to finish in 4th, with Neal recovering from his lap 11 crash to come back up to finish 5th.
Notes from Davenport: 30 Modifieds, 30 Street Stocks, 24 Late Models, 17 SportMods, and 12 4 Stocks made up the 113 cars signed in on the night......Jacob Beal started the SportMod feature in 14th and passed 8 cars to come home in 6th....Doug Burhead, who started 15th, recovered from his spin on lap 4 to finish in 7th....Jared Miller recovered from his spin on lap 10 to come back up to finish in 9th....Ricky Kay also recovered from his spin on lap 10 to come back up to finish in 10th......Joe Zrostlik made a rare appearance in the 4 Stocks and started 10th in the feature. But would pass 4 cars to come home in 6th....Andrew Fitzgerald had troubles in his heat that forced him to scratch from the feature....Oh I forgot to mention the 4 Stock feature went 12 laps CAUTION FREE!......Bob Doninacki started the Modified feature in 14th and passed 6 cars to finish in 8th....Jared Siefert made the pull down from Luxemburg, Wisconsin and had to come out of one of the B Main's to make the 20 car field. He started 16th and passed 7 cars to come home in 9th....Todd Dykema started 15th and finished in 11th....Nathan Hall made his first trip to the Davenport Speedway of the season and also had to come out of one of the B Main's to earn a spot in the feature. He started 20th and passed 7 cars to finish in 13th....Brian Bushong recovered from his involvement in the lap 16 caution to come back up to finish in 14th....Scott Powell started 19th and finished 15th....Jonathan Huston, Scott Olsen, Dean McGee, Rob Dominacki, Brian Webb, Matt Wilson, Jim Sandusky who was driving Dave Imming's #38 were just a few of the Modified drivers who didn't qualify for the feature......Mike Zemo Jr. started the Late Model feature in 18th and passed 11 cars to come home in 7th....Scott Fitzpatrick started 13th and finished 9th....Marty Diercks passed 12 cars from his 22nd place starting spot to finish in 10th....Chuck Hanna came from 17th to finish in 11th....Brunson Behning recovered from his spin on lap 14th to come back up to finish in 12th....Gary Webb also recovered from his spin on lap 5 to come back up to finish in 13th....Matt Ryan recovered from his spin on lap 18 to come back up to finish in 15th....Chad Holladay recovered from his involvement in the lap 5 caution to come back up to finish in 16th....Duane Christensen started 23rd and finished in 18th......Perry Gellerstedt recovered from his involvement in the lap 18 caution to come back up to finish 6th in the Street Stock feature....Randy Lamar passed 12 cars from his 19th place starting spot to finish in 7th....Kevin Dickey recovered from his spin on lap 34 to come back up to finish in 8th....Shawn Flagel recovered from the crash on lap 11 and his involvement in the lap 20 caution to come back up to finish in 9th....Steve Gustaf Jr. drove Mike Anderson's #02B machine and started the feature in 20th, after coming out of one of the B Main's. He would pass 10 cars to come home in 10th....Nick Claussen, Bryan Ritter, Jacob Whittington, Rick Schriner, Jeremy Gustaf, Brian Wiseman, Kevin Schloemer, Dan Evans, were some of the drivers who didn't qualify for the feature.
