Quincy, IL (Sunday, June 29, 2014) - Everybody was beginning to wonder if mother nature didn't like the Quincy Raceways in Quincy, IL, as she rained on the UMP Summernationals and Modified Nationals back on June 19th and then followed that up by raining on the weekly program on Sunday, June 22nd. But finally with bright sunny skies this past Sunday's program was completed, and with the UMP Summernationals just east of the track at Lincoln, IL the UMP Late Models were given the night off and replaced with the 305 Sprints.
The first feature up on the night was the 25 lap 305 Sprints, with Daniel Bergquist and Jarrod Schneiderman making up the front row for the event. Bergquist took advantage of his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Schneiderman and Cody Wehrle. Bergquist, who was working the bottom, tried to hold back Schneiderman, who was up top, over the next 5 lap. When Schneiderman spun in turn 1 to bring out the caution. On the restart Bergquist moved back out front, with Wehrle, Robbie Standridge and Caleb Wankel battling for the runner up spot. Wehrle, Standridge and Wankel went three wide into turn 1 on lap 7, with a little contact sent Wehrle and Wankel spinning off turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Bergquist once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Standridge and Dave Getchell, who started 7th, close behind. The action up front was slowed on lap 8, when Steven Russell slowed to a stop down the backstretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart Travis Howard spun in turn 4 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Burgquist jump back out front, with Standridge close behind in second. Both Bergquist and Standridge worked the bottom of the track, with Standridge waiting for Bergquist to slip up and allow him to get by. Standridge got his chance coming out of turn 4 to complete lap 19, as he edged Bergquist out at the line to grab the top spot. Coming to the white flag Standridge's car started to slow off the turns, which allowed Bergquist and Schneiderman, who recovered from his spin on lap 5, to slip past and battle for the win. Bergquist was able to hold on over the final lap to claim the win. Schneiderman settled for 2nd, Getchell was 3rd, Standridge was 4th, with Russell, who started 10th, recovering from his stoppage on lap 8 to come back up to finish in 5th.
Up next was the 15 lap IMCA Sport Compact feature, with Alex Costigan and Darin Weisinger Jr. leading the field to the green flag. But it was third place started Brandon Lambert who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Austen Becerra, who started 8th, and Weisinger Jr. Lambert then had to work to hold off Becerra over the next 4 laps, when Becerra jumped to his outside off turn 4 to grab the top spot away on lap 5. The first and only caution of the race appeared on lap 9, when Mike Hornung Jr., who was running 5th, spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Becerra moved back out front, with Lambert working to hold off Kimberly Abbott, who started 7th. Becerra would pull away over the final 6 laps to pick up his 22 win of the season. Lambert won the battle for 2nd, Abbott was 3rd, Bryce Baker was 4th, with Weisinger Jr. rounding out the top 5.
Dylan Hoover and Michael Long made up the front row for the 25 lap UMP Modified feature, with Long grabbing the lead on lap 1 over David Wietholder and Steven DeLonjay. The action was slowed for the first time on lap 2, when Hoover, who was running 5th, spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Long jumped back out front, with Wietholder and DeLonjay battling for second. DeLonjay would slip under Wietholder for the runner up spot on lap 5 and then went to work on Long for the lead. Long was able to hold DeLonjay off, when the second and final caution came out on lap 15. This time Russ Schoonover spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Long once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Wietholder over taking DeLonjay for the second spot. While Long worked the top of the track, Wietholder was on the bottom and trying to get past Long for the lead. But Long was able to hold him off over the final laps to claim the win. Wietholder was 2nd, DeLonjay was 3rd despite having a left rear flat, Craig Spegal came from 8th to finish in 4th, with Robbie Reed coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 18 lap IMCA Stock Car feature, with Jerry Jansen and Nathan Hayes on the front row for the event. Jansen took advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Beau Taylor and Hayes. Jansen then held the top spot until lap 3, when Taylor slipped under him coming off turn 4 to edge him out at the line for the lead. Taylor then started to pull away from the field, when his big lead was erased on lap 14. Jake Powers spun in turn 1 to bring out the caution, and brought the field back to Taylor's back bumper. On the restart Taylor moved back out front, with Jim Lynch, who started 6th, and Abe Huls, who started 8th, now glued to his back bumper. Lynch tried to work under Taylor over the next 3 laps, while Huls worked the outside of Lynch to try and get past him. Then coming out of turn 4 for the checkered Lynch was able to squeeze under Taylor to edge him at the line by half a car length to pick up the win. Taylor settled for 2nd, Huls was 3rd, Terry Houston was 4th, with Brandon Savage coming from 7th to finish in 5th.
The final feature to take to the track was the 18 lap IMCA SportMods, with Jon Lear scheduled to start on the pole. But when he had a grinding wheel come off the grinder during intermission and had to be taking to the hospital, that moved Brandon Lennox to the pole and Trevor Hagerbaumer to his outside. Just as the green flag was waved the caution came out, as Bobby Anders spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Aaron Brocksieck, who started 4th, grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Lennox and Tony Dunker, who started 9th. Taylor Lear, who parked his car for the feature and jumped into his dad's #96L machine, spun in turn 2 on lap 7 to slow the action down for the second time. On the restart Patrick Shumaker from Arlington, TN, who was driving Charles VanZandt's #80v machine, spun in turn 1 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Brocksieck jump back out front, with Bradley Holtmeyer, who started 8th, and Dunker close behind. Holtmeyer's run up front came to an end one lap later, lap 8, when he spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Brocksieck once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Dunker working to hold off Tanner Klingele, who recovered from pitting under the first caution with a flat tire. The action up front was slowed on lap 10, when Todd Reed spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. On the restart Brocksieck moved back out front, with Dunker and Lennox battling for the runner up spot. But three laps later, lap 13, Lennox slipped over the track in turn 3 to bring out the yellow. Brocksieck again moved out front on the restart, with Anders recovering from his spin on the drop of the green to come back to take 2nd. Brocksieck, Dunker, and Anders had a three way battle going for the lead, when the final caution appeared on lap 17. Bob Cowman and Reed got together in turn 4 to spin and set up a one lap dash to the finish. On the restart Brocksieck jumped out front and held on to claim his second career SportMod feature win. Dunker won the battle for 2nd, Anders was 3rd, Joey Gower recovered from his flat on the drop of the green to come back up to finish in 4th, with Shumaker recovering from his spin on lap 7 to come back up to finish in 5th.
Notes from Quincy: Brian Armitage started the 305 Sprint feature in 8th and finished 6th....Travis Howard, who started 11th, recovered from his spin on lap 8 to come back up to finish in 8th......Alex Baker returned to the speedway, after several weeks off from his roll over. He started the Sport Compact feature in 9th and finished 7th......Shawn Deering continues to have drive shaft troubles, as he dropped another one in time trials that forced him to scratch from his heat race. He then started the UMP Modified feature in 16th and managed to pass 10 cars to come home in 6th....Frankie Wellman made his 2014 debut and started 12th and finished 8th....Spencer Havermale came from 13th to finish in 10th....Russ Schoonover, who started 15th, recovered from his spin to on lap 15 to finish in 11th....Jake Griffin had power steering problems late in the feature that forced him to go pit side and come home in 13th after starting in 17th....Steve Grotz had troubles in the heat that forced him to scratch from the feature......Jake Wenig made a rare appearance to the Quincy Raceways and started the Stock Car feature in 10th and finished in 7th......Bradley Holtmeyer recovered from his spin on lap 8 of the SportMod feature to come back up to finish in 7th....Brandon Lennox recovered from his spin on lap 13 to come back up to finish in 8th....Taylor Lear recovered from his spin on lap 7 to come back up to finish in 10th.

Henry Holds On For Career First IMCA Modified Feature Win at Davenport
Davenport, IA (Friday, June 27, 2014) - Despite the heavy rains on Thursday and the scattered showers in the area on Friday, the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, IA was able to get there weekly program completed. At the end of the night it turned out to be a night of first for many winners, as one driver won there career first, another one won there first ever feature win at Davenport after many years of trying, while two others picked up their first wins of the season at the track.
The first feature to take to the track on the night was the 15 lap Street Stocks, with Rick Schriner and Randy Lamar scheduled to lead the field to the green flag. But when Schriner had a left rear flat while sitting in staging and having to go to the pits on the parade lap, that moved Lamar to the pole and Kevin Dickey to the outside of the front row. Dickey would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Cary Brown and Cord Williams. Dickey, who was using the top of the track, tried to hold off Brown, who was on the bottom of the track, over the next 6 laps when the first and only caution of the event appeared on lap 7. Donnie Louck, who started 11th and had worked his way to 5th, spun in turn 4 after contact from Joe Bonney to bring out the yellow. On the restart Dickey moved back out front, with Brown and Williams close behind. Brown went back to the bottom of the track and was able to use it to edge out front on lap 9 and then held it until lap 11, when Dickey slipped back by on the top to grab the lead back. But Brown wouldn't give up, as he edged Dickey out at the line to lead lap 13. Coming to the white flag Dickey used the top of the track to take the lead back and then held on to pick up his first ever feature win at the Davenport Speedway, after many years of trying in many classes. Brown settled for 2nd, Perry Gellerstedt came from 7th to finish in 3rd, Williams was 4th, with Nick Claussen coming from 15th to finish in 5th.
Up next was the 15 lap IMCA SportMod feature, with Jacob Beal and Jake Morris on the front row for the event. Beal used his pole position to grab the lead on lap 1 over Morris and Dustin Crear, who started 7th, and then held it until lap 2, when Crear used the bottom of the track to grab the top spot away. The action up front was slowed on lap 5, when Morris spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Crear jumped back out front, with Bryce Garnhart, who started 8th, and Dan Mohr, who started 10th, close behind. Garnhart would use the bottom of the track to slip under Crear on lap 7 to grab the lead away, and then worked to hold him back until the second caution came out on lap 8. This time Beal, who pulled off with troubles, came to a stop down the backstretch of the half mile track to bring out the yellow. Garnhart moved back out front on the restart, with Mohr over taking Crear for the runner up spot. Garnhart, who was working the bottom, tried to hold off Mohr, who was up top, over the next 3 laps, when another caution slowed the action up front. Doug Burkhead, who was running 4th, spun in turn 2 to bring out the final yellow of the event. Once again Garnhart jumped out front on the restart, with Crear grabbing the runner up spot back from Mohr. Mohr would use the top of the track to grab second back from Crear on lap 13 and then went to work on Garnhart for the lead. Going into turn 3 on the final lap Mohr was able to clear Barnhart on the high side and then used it to edge him out at the line for his first win of the season at the track. Garnhart was 2nd, Crear was 3rd, Henry Carson was 4th, with David Norton crossing the line in 5th. But Norton would come up light at the scales and was disqualified, which moved Joe Grant up to the 5th spot.
Marty Diercks and Gary Webb led the field to the green in the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature, with Webb grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Diercks and Andy Nezworski. While Webb worked the top of the track out front, Diercks, Nezworski and Mike Zemo Jr. had a great three car battling going for the runner up spot. Mike Murphy Jr., who started 7th, used the bottom of the track to join the action up front on lap 8. Diercks, who was on the bottom, was able to slip under Webb on lap 11 to take over the top spot, while Murphy Jr. followed him into the second spot. One lap later, lap 12, Murphy Jr. made the pass on Diercks to grab the lead and then started to pull away from the battle behind him. Justin Kay, who started 10th, worked his way into second on lap 17 and then went to work on cutting into Murphy Jr.'s lead. Murphy Jr. came up on a couple of lapped cars with 2 laps to go, which allowed Kay to close in on him. But Murphy Jr. would hold on to pick up his first win of the season at the track, as the red flag came out after he crossed the line to take the checkered. Webb would jump the cushion going into turn 1 which caused his nose to dig into the track and forced the car to nose dive over onto it's lid. Webb climbed from the car okay! Kay would settle for 2nd, Diercks was 3rd, Nezworksi was 4th, with Todd Malmstrom coming from 8th to round out the top 5.
Up next was the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature, with Mike Fluegel and Jason Pershy making up the front row for the event. Fluegel took advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Rob Henry and Pershy. Fluegel, who was up top, and Henry, who was down low, ran the next several laps side-by-side, before Henry edged Fluegel at the line to lead lap 4. But Fluegel would come back on the top of the track to take the top spot back on lap 5, only to have Henry come back on the bottom to grab the lead back on lap 7. The action up front was slowed on lap 8, when Scott Powell spun in turn 2 to bring out the caution. On the restart Henry moved back out front, with Joe Beal, who started 5th, grabbing second and Kelly Meyer following him into third. But just as the action up front was heating up again, the caution would appear on lap 10. This time Bob Dominacki spun in turn 2 to bring out the caution. Henry once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Beal, Meyer, Doug Crampton, who started 12th, and Chris Zogg, who started 10th, joining the battle up front. Crampton's run to the front came to an end on lap 16, when he slipped over the track in turn 4 to bring out the final caution of the race. On the restart Henry moved back out front, with Beal, Meyer and Zogg close behind. Henry would stay smooth over the final 4 laps, as he held on for his first career IMCA Modified feature win in his rookie year in the class after moving up from the Street Stock class this year. Beal held on for 2nd, Meyer was 3rd, Zogg was 4th, with Brandon Durbin finishing 5th after starting in 8th.
The final feature to take to the track on the night was the 12 lap 4 Stocks, with Richard Dearborn and Sean Fersch leading the field to the green flag. But it was fifth place starter Zach Dahl who quickly worked his way to the front to grab the lead on lap 1 over Luke Benischek and Jake Benischek, who started 6th. The action up front was slowed for the first and only time on lap 5, as debris in turn 4 brought out the caution. On the restart Andy Loy, who started 8th, slipped past Dahl to grab the top spot and leaving Dahl to battle Luke Benischek for the runner up spot. Loy's run up front came to an end on lap 10, as he pulled into the infield in turn 3 with troubles. Luke Benischek would inherit the lead and now had to work to hold off Zach Dahl and Brandon Dahl, who started 9th, over the final 2 laps. Coming to the checkered flag Zach Dahl looked low to try and get around Luke Benischek, but clipped a tire in turn 4 and spun. Which allowed Luke Benischek to go on to claim his second win of the season at the track. Brandon Dahl was 2nd, Jake Benischek was 3rd, Andrew Fitzgerald came from 7th to finish in 4th, with Aaron Hitt finishing 5th after starting in 10th.

Creston Williams Scores His First Career SportMod Feature Win at 34 Raceway
West Burlington, IA (Saturday, June 21, 2014) - After taking a weekend off for some quad and bike races, 34 Raceway in West Burlington, IA returned to there weekly racing program on Saturday night. At the end of the nights events two drivers earned there first wins of the season at the track, while the other four became repeat winners.
The first feature to take to the track was the 20 lap IMCA Stock Cars, with Mark Bowman and Randy Wachter making up the front row for the event. Just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as John Brockway climbed the wall down the backstretch and collects Jim Lynch to bring out the yellow. On the restart John Oliver Jr. climb the backstretch wall and collects Jake Wenig and Travis Hartman to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Chad Krogmeier and Hartman spin to a stop in turn 2 to bring the caution back out. The fourth attempt of a start had Bowman jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Wachter and Dane Fenton. Bowman then held the lead until lap 3, when Tom Bowling Jr., who started 9th, slipped under him to take over the top spot. The final caution of the race appeared on lap 4, when Wachter, who was running 3rd, got into the wall in turn 3 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Bowling Jr. jumped back out front, with Lynch close behind after coming from the back from the lap 1 crash. Bowling Jr. would pull away over the final laps to claim his second win of the season at the track. Wenig recovered from his involvement in one of the wrecks on lap 1 to come back up to finish in 2nd, Krogmeier recovered from his spin on lap 1 to come back to finish in 3rd, Fenton was 4th, with Bowman coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 10 lap Mod Lite feature, with Gary Snyder and Devon Rouse leading the field to the green flag. Snyder would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1. Daniel Keltner slipped past Snyder on lap 4 and then held on to pick up the win. Justin Buchholz got the front end fixed on his car after a crash in the heat race to finish 2nd, Rouse was 3rd, Snyder was 4th, with Colin Ball finishing 5th after missing the heat race after crashing in hot laps.
Creston Williams and Tom Lathrop led the field to green in the 15 lap IMCA SportMod feature, with Williams grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Joey Gower and Dustin Crear. While Williams worked to hold off the challenges from Gower, Sean Wyett, who started 5th, Kyle Hill, who started 6th, Brett Timmerman, who started 8th, and Tony Dunker, who started 7th, were battling there way towards the front. Butt Timmerman's run to the front ended on lap 12 when he spun from his 5th place running spot in turn 4 and collects Dunker, who was running 6th, to bring out the first yellow. On the restart Williams moved back out front, with Wyett and Bobby Anders, who started 9th, glued to his back bumper. Just as the field completed lap 14, the white flag lap, the caution would appear for Dunker who stopped in turn 4. This would set up a one lap dash to the finish. Williams grabbed the lead on the restart and held off Anders to claim his first career SportMod feature at the track. Anders settled for 2nd, Wyett was 3rd, Adam Shelman started 11th and finished in 4th, with Gower rounding out the top 5.
The 12 lap 4 Cylinder feature was next to take to the track, with Ron Kibbe and Daytona Fenton making up the front row. Kibbe took advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Larry Miller and Austen Becerra, who started 7th. While Kibbe paced the field, Miller worked to hold back Becerra for the runner up spot. But Becerra was able to work under Miller on lap 5 to grab the second spot and then went to work on chasing down Kibbe for the lead. Becerra used the bottom of the track to slip under Kibbe for the lead on lap 8 and then pulled away over the final 4 laps to pick up his 5th win at the track and 19th overall on the season. Kibbe settled for 2nd, Wayne Noble came from 8th to finish in 3rd, Cody Washburne was 4th, with Miller holding on for 5th.
Up next was the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature, with Larry McConnell and Dugan Thye leading the field to the drop of the green flag. Thye would take advantage of his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Dennis LeVeine and McConnell. After the completion of lap 1 the yellow would come out, as Bill Roberts Jr., who was running 6th, spun off turn 1 to bring out the caution. On the restart Mitch Morris, who started 9th and was running 5th, used the bottom of the track to take over the lead on lap 2. The action up front was slowed for the second time on lap 3, when Dustan Fenton spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. Morris moved back out front on the restart, with LaVeine working to hold back Thye and Tyler Glass, who started 13th. Brandon Rothzen, who started 14th and had worked his way up to 7th, spun in turn 4 on lap 9 to bring out the caution and slow the action down. On the restart Morris jumped back out front, with LaVeine and Jeff Waterman coming from 5th to 3rd. But just as another lap was put on the scoreboard, Dean McGee spun down the front stretch to bring the yellow light back on. Morris again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Waterman now glued to his back bumper. Just as Waterman worked under Morris in turn 4 to grab the lead on lap 13, the caution would come out for Chadwick Giberson's spin in turn 1 to bring out the yellow and giving Morris the lead back. Once again Morris moved out front on the restart, with Waterman close behind. Waterman worked under Morris coming of turn 2 to grab the top spot away on lap 15 and then held on over the final 5 laps to pick up his 3rd win of the season at the track. Morris was 2nd, Roberts Jr. recovered from his spin on lap 1 to come back up to finish in 3rd, LaVeine was 4th, with Thye coming home in 5th.
The final feature to take to the track on the night was the 20 lap 305 Sprints, with Jacob Glasgow and Shawn Whiting on the front row for the event. Whiting would jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Glasgow and Kyle Peterson. Just as the lap was scored complete Nick Guernsey rolled in turn 4 to bring out the red. He climbed from his car okay. On the restart Whiting moved back out front, with Justin Newberry, who started 8th, taking over the runner up spot. While Whiting held off Newberry, Donnie Steward, who started 12th, Jayson Ditsworth, who started 11th, and John Schulz, who started 10th, were working there way towards the front. By lap 7 Whiting started to enter into lapped traffic, which allowed Newberry and Steward to close in on him. Coming out of turn 4 to the checkered Whiting chose the top of the track to get around the lapped cars, while Newberry went to the bottom. Newberry's moved proved to be the winning move, as he edged Whiting out at the line by inches to claim his first win of the season at the track. Whiting settled for 2nd, Dillan Roth came from 6th to finish in 3rd, Schulz was 4th, with Cody Wehrle rounding out the top 5.

Glass was credited with 9th and Rothzen with 10th.......Andy Houston finished 9th in the 305 Sprint feature after starting in 13th....Andy Krieger came from 16th to finish in 12th....Jayson Ditsworth, who was running 3rd, pulled off the track on lap 18 with troubles to end his night in 16th....Donnie Steward was running 2nd when he blew an oil line on lap 14 to end his night in 17th.

Kay, Zogg and Moyer Repeat at the Davenport Speedway
Davenport, IA (Friday, June 20, 2014) - Friday night at the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, IA it was Mid-Season Championship night, with a draw / redraw format used in all five classes. It was also a chance for the point leaders to take a choice to draw or elect to start in the tail and race for double pay if they come thru the field to win.
The 15 lap Street Stock feature was the first to take to the track, with Randy Lamar and Cary Brown drawing the front row for the event. But just as the green flag was dropped the yellow light would come on, as Jacob Whittington spun down the front stretch to bring out the caution. On the restart Whittington would get into the back of Donnie Louck, who elected to start in the rear for double his money, which caused him to spin off turn 1 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Lamar jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Brown and Nick Claussen. Lamar's run up front ended on lap 2, as Brown slipped under him to grab the top spot away. Brown then led until lap 4, when Claussen used the top of the track to grab the lead away. The action up front was slowed on lap 5, when Whittington spun in turn 2 to bring the caution out. On the restart Jeremy Marquette, who started 7th, used the bottom of the track to grab the lead on lap 6 over Claussen and Cord Williams. Marquette then started to pull away from the battle for second, when the yellow light appeared on lap 9. This time Brian Wiseman spun down the backstretch to bring out the caution. On the restart Marquette moved back out front, but now had Louck challenging him for the top spot. Coming around to complete lap 13 Louck would slip over the track in turns 3 and 4 to fall from 2nd to 6th, and then on the completion of the lap Claussen, who was running 2nd, spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Marquette grabbed the lead on the restart and then held on over the final 2 laps to pick up his first win of the season at the track. Andrew Burk started 5th and finished 2nd, Williams held on for 3rd, Louck was 4th, with Brown coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature, with Matt Werner and Todd Dykema drawing the front row for the event. Werner would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Bob Dominacki and Dykema. Werner then held the lead until lap 3, when Dominacki slipped under him to grab the top spot away. While Dominacki raced out front Werner, Mitch Morris, Kurt Kile, who started 6th, and Chris Zogg, who started 7th, battled for the runner up spot. Zogg would use the middle of the track to work his self up to the runner up spot on lap 11 and then into the lead on lap 12 by inches over Dominacki. The first caution of the race appeared on lap 14, as Rob Dominacki spun in turn 4 to bring the action up front to a halt. On the restart Zogg jumped back out front, with Morris, Dominacki and Kile battling for second. Just as Zogg came across the line to take the white flag lap, the caution would appear for Rob Dominacki's spin down the backstretch to bring out the yellow and checkered. Zogg would be credited with his second straight win at the track. Kile was 2nd, Morris was 3rd, Bob Dominacki was 4th, with Milo Veloz Jr. coming from 13th to round out the top 5.
Matt Ryan and Spencer Diercks drew the front row for the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature, with Ryan grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Nate Bueseling and Diercks. Just after the completion of lap 1 Marty Diercks would spin in turn 2 to bring the caution out. On the restart Ryan moved back out front, with Bueseling and Diercks battling for second. Ryan held the top spot until lap 6, when Diercks slipped past him to take the lead. While Diercks and Ryan battled up front, Justin Kay, who started 10th, was using the bottom and middle of the track to work his way towards the front. Diercks run up front came to an end on lap 12, as Kay slipped past to grab the lead away. Kay then started to pull away from the field when the final caution of the event appeared on lap 20. Mike Murphy Jr., who was running 4th, spun off turn 3 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Kay jumped back out front and then held on over the final 5 laps to claim his second win in a row at the track. Diercks was 2nd, Bueseling was 3rd, Ryan was 4th, with Todd Malmstrom coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 15 lap IMCA SportMod feature, with Doug Burkhead and Henry Carson drawing the front row for the event. Just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Randy Farrell dropped a driveshaft down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart Burkhead jumped out front to lead lap 1 over Carson and Austin Moyer, who started 4th. The second caution of the race appeared on lap 2, when Joe Grant spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Moyer jumped to the top of the track to grab the top spot on lap 3. Just as Moyer started to pull away from the field, the final caution of the race came out on lap 5. This time Angie Feller spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Moyer once again grabbed the lead on the restart, but now had Bryce Garnhart, who started at the rear for a chance to double his money, on his back bumper. But Moyer was able to pull away over the final 10 laps to claim his second win in a row at the track, after picking up the $2,000 special last Friday night. Garnhart was 2nd, Carson was 3rd, Grant recovered from his lap 2 spin to come back up to finish in 4th, with Burkhead holding on for 5th.
The final feature to take to the track was the 12 lap 4 Stocks, with Luke Benischek and Aaron Hitt being moved to the front row after pole sitter Zach Dahl elected to go to the rear. Hitt used his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Brandon Dahl, who started 6th, and Benischek. Brandon Dahl would use the bottom of the track to slip under Hitt on lap 2 to grab the top spot away. While Brandon Dahl worked the lead, Hitt had to work to hold back Andy Loy, who started 5th, in the battle for second. The action up front was slowed for the first and only time on lap 9, when debris in turn 4 brought out the yellow. On the restart Brandon Dahl jumped back out front, with Hitt and Loy continuing there battle for second. Brandon Dahl was able to hold on over the final 3 laps to pick up the win. Loy won the battle for 2nd, Hitt was 3rd, Andrew Fitzgerald came from the rear after taking a chance at doubling his money to finish in 4th, with Benischek rounding out the top 5.

On the restart Zogg jumped back out front, with Morris, Dominacki and Kile battling for second. Just as Zogg came across the line to take the white flag lap, the caution would appear for Rob Dominacki's spin down the backstretch to bring out the yellow and checkered. Zogg would be credited with his second straight win at the track. Kile was 2nd, Morris was 3rd, Bob Dominacki was 4th, with Milo Veloz Jr. coming from 13th to round out the top 5.
Matt Ryan and Spencer Diercks drew the front row for the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature, with Ryan grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Nate Bueseling and Diercks. Just after the completion of lap 1 Marty Diercks would spin in turn 2 to bring the caution out. On the restart Ryan moved back out front, with Bueseling and Diercks battling for second. Ryan held the top spot until lap 6, when Diercks slipped past him to take the lead. While Diercks and Ryan battled up front, Justin Kay, who started 10th, was using the bottom and middle of the track to work his way towards the front. Diercks run up front came to an end on lap 12, as Kay slipped past to grab the lead away. Kay then started to pull away from the field when the final caution of the event appeared on lap 20. Mike Murphy Jr., who was running 4th, spun off turn 3 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Kay jumped back out front and then held on over the final 5 laps to claim his second win in a row at the track. Diercks was 2nd, Bueseling was 3rd, Ryan was 4th, with Todd Malmstrom coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 15 lap IMCA SportMod feature, with Doug Burkhead and Henry Carson drawing the front row for the event. Just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Randy Farrell dropped a driveshaft down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart Burkhead jumped out front to lead lap 1 over Carson and Austin Moyer, who started 4th. The second caution of the race appeared on lap 2, when Joe Grant spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Moyer jumped to the top of the track to grab the top spot on lap 3. Just as Moyer started to pull away from the field, the final caution of the race came out on lap 5. This time Angie Feller spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Moyer once again grabbed the lead on the restart, but now had Bryce Garnhart, who started at the rear for a chance to double his money, on his back bumper. But Moyer was able to pull away over the final 10 laps to claim his second win in a row at the track, after picking up the $2,000 special last Friday night. Garnhart was 2nd, Carson was 3rd, Grant recovered from his lap 2 spin to come back up to finish in 4th, with Burkhead holding on for 5th.
The final feature to take to the track was the 12 lap 4 Stocks, with Luke Benischek and Aaron Hitt being moved to the front row after pole sitter Zach Dahl elected to go to the rear. Hitt used his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Brandon Dahl, who started 6th, and Benischek. Brandon Dahl would use the bottom of the track to slip under Hitt on lap 2 to grab the top spot away. While Brandon Dahl worked the lead, Hitt had to work to hold back Andy Loy, who started 5th, in the battle for second. The action up front was slowed for the first and only time on lap 9, when debris in turn 4 brought out the yellow. On the restart Brandon Dahl jumped back out front, with Hitt and Loy continuing there battle for second. Brandon Dahl was able to hold on over the final 3 laps to pick up the win. Loy won the battle for 2nd, Hitt was 3rd, Andrew Fitzgerald came from the rear after taking a chance at doubling his money to finish in 4th, with Benischek rounding out the top 5.

Quincy Raceways Checkers Go to Woodworth, Wietholder, Huls, Holtmeyer, and Abbott
Quincy, IL (Sunday, June 15, 2014) - Father's Day Sunday meant another night of racing at the Quincy Raceways in Quincy, IL. At the end of the night Denny Woodworth won his second in a row (UMP Late Models), David Wietholder pick up his first win of the season (UMP Modifieds), Abe Huls claimed another (IMCA Stock Car), Bradley Holtmeyer won his second career (IMCA SportMods), and Kimberly Abbott picked up her first win of the season (IMCA Sport Compacts) at the track.
The 18 lap IMCA SportMod feature was the first to take to the track, with Jared Wiemelt and Aaron Brocksieck on the front row. Brocksieck would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Tanner Klingele and Bobby Anders, who started 6th. The first caution of the event appeared on lap 2, as Bob Cowman spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Brocksieck moved back out front, with Anders and Bradley Holtmeyer, who started 7th, battling for second. Brocksieck's run up front came to a stop on lap 10, as he slowed in turn 4 with a right rear flat to bring out the caution. Holtmeyer inherited the lead on the restart, with Tony Dunker, who started 8th, and Klingele going at it for second. While Holtmeyer was out front, Dunker, who was up top, and Klingele, who was on the bottom, raced side-by-side for the runner up spot. There was no catching Holtmeyer on this night, as he went on to score his second career feature win at the track this season. Coming to the checkered flag Klingele drove it in hard under Dunker and tried to slid up in front of him coming off turn 4. But Dunker didn't lift and got into the back of Klingele, which caused him to spin. Dunker came around to finish in 2nd, Anders was 3rd, Joey Gower was 4th, with Patrick Phillips making his debut and coming from 10th to round out the top 5.
Up next was the 25 lap UMP Late Model feature, with Mark Burgtorf and Denny Woodworth leading the field to the green. Woodworth took advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Burgtorf and Rickey Frankel. Woodworth worked to hold back Burgtorf over the next 17 laps, when Frankel moved in on lap 18 to make it a three car battle up front. Woodworth, who was up top, Burgtorf, who ran the middle, and Frankel, who was on the bottom, ran turns 1 and 2 three wide on lap 18, 19 and 20. Frankel was able to clear Burgtorf for the runner up spot on lap 20 when he pushed up the track in turn 3, and then went to work on Woodworth for the top spot. Despite Frankel getting up beside Woodworth in turn 1 and 2 over the final 5 laps, Woodworth was able to hold him off to pick up his second consecutive win at the track. Frankel held off Burgtorf at the line by half a car length to finish in 2nd, with Burgtorf 3rd, Billy Genenbacher was 4th, with Jamie Wilson coming home in 5th.
Darin Weisinger Jr. and Brandon Lambert led the field to the green flag in the 14 lap IMCA Sport Compact feature. But it was third place starter Bryce Baker who jumped out front on lap 1 over Austen Becerra, who came from the rear after borrowing Mike Hornung Jr.'s car. Baker then held the top spot until lap 8, when Kimberly Abbott used the top of the track to take over the lead. One lap later, lap 9, Baker slowed to a stop in turn 2 with troubles to bring out the caution. On the restart Abbott moved back out front and then held on over the final 5 laps to claim her first win of the season at the track. Becerra settled for 2nd, new comer Cliff Spencer came from 9th to finish in 3rd, Weisinger Jr. held on for 4th, with another new comer Austin McClean starting in 8th and finishing in 5th.
Up next was the 20 lap UMP Modified feature, with Steven DeLonjay and Jared Schlipman on the front row. But just as the green flag was waved the yellow light would come on, as Spencer Havermale spun down the front stretch to bring out the caution. On the restart Schlipman grabbed the lead on lap 1 over DeLonjay and David Wietholder. Another lap complete and another caution, as Shane Lewis spun in turn 1 on lap 2 to bring out the yellow. Schlipman once again moved out front on the restart, with DeLonjay and Wietholder close behind. Schlipman, who was running the top, and DeLonjay, who was on the bottom, ran the next several laps side-by-side at the line, with Schlipman leading each lap. DeLonjay was able to grab the lead by half a car length at the line on lap 17 to take over the top spot. One lap later, lap 18, Schlipman's run up front came to an end, as a big cloud of smoke came from under his car and he slowed to a stop off turn 4 to bring out the yellow. This would set up a two lap dash to the finish. On the restart DeLonjay moved back to the bottom of the track, while Wieyholder went to the top. Wietholder would power around DeLonjay coming out of turn 4 heading to the white flag and then held on to pick up his first win of the season at the track. DeLonjay settled for 2nd, Keith Pratt was 3rd, Russ Coultas was 4th, with Lewis recovering from his lap 2 spin to come back up to finish in 5th.
The final feature up on the night was the 18 lap IMCA Stock Cars, with Jim Lynch and Abe Huls drawing the front row for the $500 to win special. Lynch used his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Huls and Nathan Hayes. Huls, who worked the bottom of the track, tried to work under Lynch over the next 10 laps. But Lynch was able to hold him off at the line each lap, that is until lap 11 when Huls edged him out by inches at the line to take over the top spot. The first caution of the event appeared on lap 15 when Jake Powers spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Lynch would get into the guardrail down the backstretch and slowed to a stop to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Huls jump back out front, with Brandon Savage, who started 5th, and Terry Houston, who started 8th, glued to Huls back bumper. The action up front was slowed for the final time on lap 16, as Hayes and Jerry Jansen collided down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart Huls jumped back out front and held on over the final 2 laps to claim the $500 top prize. Savage settled for 2nd, Houston was 3rd, Powers recovered from his lap 15 spin to come back up to finish in 4th, with Jansen rounding out the top 5.

Moyer Tops SportMod Challenge at the Davenport Speedway
Davenport, IA (Friday, June 13, 2013) - Friday the 13th with a full moon didn't effect the racing action at the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, IA. As they held there 2nd Annual SportMod Challenge, with $2,000 going to the feature winner. Also in action on the night was the IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks and 4 Stocks.
The first feature to take to the track on the night was the 15 lap Street Stocks, with Kevin Schloemer and Randy Lamar leading the field to the green flag. Lamar would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Schloemer and Cary Brown, who started 5th. Brown worked the bottom of the speedway to take over the top spot from Lamar on lap 3, but Lamar used the top of the track to grab the lead back on lap 4. While Lamar and Brown battle up front, Perry Gellerstedt, who started 9th, was working his way to the front. Gellerstedt worked under Brown on lap 10 to move into the runner up spot and then used the same groove to take over the top spot on lap 11. Gellerstedt then pulled away over the final 4 laps of a caution free race to pick up the win. Lamar held on for 2nd, Brown was 3rd, Cord Williams was 4th, with Donnie Louck coming from 15th to round out the top 5.
Up next was the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature, with LeRoy Brenner and Gary Webb making up the front row for the event. Webb used his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Rob Toland and Brenner. But just as lap 1 was complete the caution would come out, as Joe Lowder spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Webb moved back out front, with Toland and Brenner close behind. While Webb and Toland used the top of the track, Matt Ryan used the bottom to grab the lead away from Webb on lap 7. Lowder would spin in turn 2 on lap 10 to bring out his second solo caution to end his night. Ryan grabbed the lead on the restart, with Toland and Mike Zemo Jr. battling for second. While Ryan and Toland battled fro the lead, Justin Kay, who started 12th was working his way to the front. Toland would use the top of the track to edge out Ryan at the line to lead lap 16. One lap later, lap 17, Kay slipped under Ryan to move into the runner up spot. The following lap, lap 18, he used the same groove to take the top spot away from Toland. Just after the completion of lap 24, the white flag lap, the yellow and checkered flag was waved. As Marty Diercks spun off turn 1 to bring out the yellow and checkers. Kay was scored the winner. Toland was 2nd, Ryan was 3rd, Ray Guss Jr. came from 11th to finish in 4th, with Zemo Jr. coming home in 5th.
Wade Dahl and Allen Morris led the field to green in the 12 lap 4 Stock feature, with Wade Dahl grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Luke Benischek and Brandon Dahl, who started 8th. Wade Dahl's lead only last for one lap, as Benischek slipped by on lap 2 to take over the top spot. One lap later, lap 3, Brandon Dahl slipped by Benischek to grab the lead, while Andrew Fitzgerald, who started 9th, worked his way into the battle up front. Fitzgerald tried to slip under Brandon Dahl over the next 5 laps, until he finally got the job done on lap 9 to take over the lead. Fitzgerald then held him off over the final 3 laps of a caution free race to claim the win. Brandon Dahl was 2nd, Luke Benischek was 3rd, Jake Benischek started 7th and finished 4th, with Wade Dahl holding on for 5th.
Up next was the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature, with Jarod Struss and Jason Pershy on the front row for the event. Pershy would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Struss and Chris Zogg, who started 6th. Zogg used the top of the track to take the top spot away from Pershy on lap 3, leaving Pershy to battle Bob Dominacki, Matt Werner, who started 5th, and Joe Beal, who started 8th, for the runner up spot. There was no stopping Zogg tonight, as he led the final 17 laps of a caution free race to pick up the win. Werner won the battle for 2nd, Brandon Durbin came from 7th to finish in 3rd, Mitch Morris started 9th and finished in 4th, with Dominacki rounding out the top 5.
The final feature to take to the track on the night was the 50 lap IMCA SportMod Challenge, with Greg Wichman and Jake Morris drawing the front row for the event. Wichman would use his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Carter VanDenBerg and Austin Moyer, who started 5th. Wichman worked the next 9 laps to hold off Moyer for the lead, while VanDenBerg tried to hold off Jenae Gustin in the battle for third. Moyer would slip under Wichman on lap 10 to take over the top spot, with the first caution coming out after the completion of the lap. Jacob Arp lost a rear spring in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Moyer moved back out front, with VanDenBerg, Wichman, Gustin and Dan Mohr, who started 7th battling for second. The action up front was slowed for the second time on lap 13, as Dustin Crear, who started 19th, got into the back of Morris while battling for 12th. With Morris spinning to a stop in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Moyer once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Mohr close behind in second. Mohr, who was three wheeling his machine around the top of the speedway, tried to work around Moyer over the next 11 laps. But Moyer was able to hold him off, until the third and final caution appeared on lap 24 to slow the action down. This time Matt Short came to stop down the front stretch with a right front flat to bring out the yellow. On the restart Moyer jumped back out front, with Mohr still glued to his back bumper. Moyer used lapped traffic over the final 26 laps to pull away to claim the win and the $2,000 top prize. Mohr settled for 2nd, VanDenBerg was 3rd, Tony Olson came from 18th to finish in 4th, with Gustin coming home in 5th.
Notes from Davenport: 26 Modifieds, 21 SportMods, 19 Late Models, 15 Street Stocks, and 15 4 Stocks made up the 96 cars signed in on the night....What made the night amazing was in 122 laps of feature racing in the 5 features, only six cautions slowed the action....The 15 lap Street Stocks went caution free, the 25 lap Late Model feature had three cautions, 12 laps in the 4 Stocks was caution free, as was the 20 lap Modifieds, with the 50 lap SportMods only having three cautions!......Nick Claussen started the Street Stock feature in 8th and finished in 6th....Andrew Burk came from 10th to finish in 7th....Zach Huston, Rick Schriner and Jake Whittington all had troubles in there heat races that forced them to scratch from the feature......Todd Malmstrom started the Late Model feature in 9th and finished in 7th....Mike Murphy Jr. came from 10th to finish in 8th....Chad Holladay started 13th and finished 10th....Duane Christisen came from 17th to finish in 11th....Andy Nezworski was running 7th, when heavy smoke from his car sent him to the pits on lap 24 to end his night in 12th......Zach Dahl came from 12th in the 4 Stock feature to finish in 8th....Todd Sibley finished 9th after starting in 14th....Richard Dearborn, Justin Schroeder and Lucas Short all had troubles in there heat races that forced them to scratch from the feature......Doug Crampton came from 12th in the Modified feature to finish in 6th....Dean McGee started 10th and finished in 7th....Brian Mullen made the pull down from Seymour, Wisconsin and had to come from the B Main to start the feature in 16th. He passed 8 cars to bring home an 8th place finish....Tim Current won the B Main and started 13th. As I was invited to come up to meet the crew and see how they did things before next weeks action, when I will fill in as assistant scorer. It was a fun night to be invited down to score the features on the 1/4 mile track!
The first feature to take to the track on the night was the 15 lap Street Stocks, with Kevin Schloemer and Randy Lamar leading the field to the green flag. Lamar would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Schloemer and Cary Brown, who started 5th. Brown worked the bottom of the speedway to take over the top spot from Lamar on lap 3, but Lamar used the top of the track to grab the lead back on lap 4. While Lamar and Brown battle up front, Perry Gellerstedt, who started 9th, was working his way to the front. Gellerstedt worked under Brown on lap 10 to move into the runner up spot and then used the same groove to take over the top spot on lap 11. Gellerstedt then pulled away over the final 4 laps of a caution free race to pick up the win. Lamar held on for 2nd, Brown was 3rd, Cord Williams was 4th, with Donnie Louck coming from 15th to round out the top 5.
Up next was the 25 lap IMCA Late Model feature, with LeRoy Brenner and Gary Webb making up the front row for the event. Webb used his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Rob Toland and Brenner. But just as lap 1 was complete the caution would come out, as Joe Lowder spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Webb moved back out front, with Toland and Brenner close behind. While Webb and Toland used the top of the track, Matt Ryan used the bottom to grab the lead away from Webb on lap 7. Lowder would spin in turn 2 on lap 10 to bring out his second solo caution to end his night. Ryan grabbed the lead on the restart, with Toland and Mike Zemo Jr. battling for second. While Ryan and Toland battled fro the lead, Justin Kay, who started 12th was working his way to the front. Toland would use the top of the track to edge out Ryan at the line to lead lap 16. One lap later, lap 17, Kay slipped under Ryan to move into the runner up spot. The following lap, lap 18, he used the same groove to take the top spot away from Toland. Just after the completion of lap 24, the white flag lap, the yellow and checkered flag was waved. As Marty Diercks spun off turn 1 to bring out the yellow and checkers. Kay was scored the winner. Toland was 2nd, Ryan was 3rd, Ray Guss Jr. came from 11th to finish in 4th, with Zemo Jr. coming home in 5th.
Wade Dahl and Allen Morris led the field to green in the 12 lap 4 Stock feature, with Wade Dahl grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Luke Benischek and Brandon Dahl, who started 8th. Wade Dahl's lead only last for one lap, as Benischek slipped by on lap 2 to take over the top spot. One lap later, lap 3, Brandon Dahl slipped by Benischek to grab the lead, while Andrew Fitzgerald, who started 9th, worked his way into the battle up front. Fitzgerald tried to slip under Brandon Dahl over the next 5 laps, until he finally got the job done on lap 9 to take over the lead. Fitzgerald then held him off over the final 3 laps of a caution free race to claim the win. Brandon Dahl was 2nd, Luke Benischek was 3rd, Jake Benischek started 7th and finished 4th, with Wade Dahl holding on for 5th.
Up next was the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature, with Jarod Struss and Jason Pershy on the front row for the event. Pershy would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Struss and Chris Zogg, who started 6th. Zogg used the top of the track to take the top spot away from Pershy on lap 3, leaving Pershy to battle Bob Dominacki, Matt Werner, who started 5th, and Joe Beal, who started 8th, for the runner up spot. There was no stopping Zogg tonight, as he led the final 17 laps of a caution free race to pick up the win. Werner won the battle for 2nd, Brandon Durbin came from 7th to finish in 3rd, Mitch Morris started 9th and finished in 4th, with Dominacki rounding out the top 5.
The final feature to take to the track on the night was the 50 lap IMCA SportMod Challenge, with Greg Wichman and Jake Morris drawing the front row for the event. Wichman would use his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Carter VanDenBerg and Austin Moyer, who started 5th. Wichman worked the next 9 laps to hold off Moyer for the lead, while VanDenBerg tried to hold off Jenae Gustin in the battle for third. Moyer would slip under Wichman on lap 10 to take over the top spot, with the first caution coming out after the completion of the lap. Jacob Arp lost a rear spring in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Moyer moved back out front, with VanDenBerg, Wichman, Gustin and Dan Mohr, who started 7th battling for second. The action up front was slowed for the second time on lap 13, as Dustin Crear, who started 19th, got into the back of Morris while battling for 12th. With Morris spinning to a stop in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Moyer once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Mohr close behind in second. Mohr, who was three wheeling his machine around the top of the speedway, tried to work around Moyer over the next 11 laps. But Moyer was able to hold him off, until the third and final caution appeared on lap 24 to slow the action down. This time Matt Short came to stop down the front stretch with a right front flat to bring out the yellow. On the restart Moyer jumped back out front, with Mohr still glued to his back bumper. Moyer used lapped traffic over the final 26 laps to pull away to claim the win and the $2,000 top prize. Mohr settled for 2nd, VanDenBerg was 3rd, Tony Olson came from 18th to finish in 4th, with Gustin coming home in 5th.
Notes from Davenport: 26 Modifieds, 21 SportMods, 19 Late Models, 15 Street Stocks, and 15 4 Stocks made up the 96 cars signed in on the night....What made the night amazing was in 122 laps of feature racing in the 5 features, only six cautions slowed the action....The 15 lap Street Stocks went caution free, the 25 lap Late Model feature had three cautions, 12 laps in the 4 Stocks was caution free, as was the 20 lap Modifieds, with the 50 lap SportMods only having three cautions!......Nick Claussen started the Street Stock feature in 8th and finished in 6th....Andrew Burk came from 10th to finish in 7th....Zach Huston, Rick Schriner and Jake Whittington all had troubles in there heat races that forced them to scratch from the feature......Todd Malmstrom started the Late Model feature in 9th and finished in 7th....Mike Murphy Jr. came from 10th to finish in 8th....Chad Holladay started 13th and finished 10th....Duane Christisen came from 17th to finish in 11th....Andy Nezworski was running 7th, when heavy smoke from his car sent him to the pits on lap 24 to end his night in 12th......Zach Dahl came from 12th in the 4 Stock feature to finish in 8th....Todd Sibley finished 9th after starting in 14th....Richard Dearborn, Justin Schroeder and Lucas Short all had troubles in there heat races that forced them to scratch from the feature......Doug Crampton came from 12th in the Modified feature to finish in 6th....Dean McGee started 10th and finished in 7th....Brian Mullen made the pull down from Seymour, Wisconsin and had to come from the B Main to start the feature in 16th. He passed 8 cars to bring home an 8th place finish....Tim Current won the B Main and started 13th. He passed 3 cars to finish in 10th....Brian Bushong started 17th and finished 14th....Mike Fluegel came from 18th to finish in 15th....Joe Beal's run up front came to an end on lap 15, when he pulled off the track while running 4th with troubles to end his night in 16th......Bryce Garnhart started the SportMod feature in 10th and finished in 6th....Jake Waterman drove Jacob Beal's #96 machine to a 7th place finish after starting in 9th....Brett Lowry came from 12th to finish in 8th....Jacob Ellithorpe started 16th and finished in 10th....Dustin Crear recovered from his involvement in the lap 13 caution to come back up to finish in 11th....Doug Burkhead started 17th and finished in 12th....David Norton came from 21st to finish in 15th.

Hagen Dominates POWRi Midget's First Ever Visit to Quincy Raceways
Quincy, IL (Thursday, June 5, 2014) - Thursday night was a special night at the Quincy Raceways in Quincy, Illinois, as the POWRi Midgets and Powri Outlaw Micros made there first ever visit to the track. Also in action on the night was the UMP Modifieds.
The first feature to take to the track on the night was the 20 lap UMP Modifieds, with Michael Long and David Wietholder making up the front row. Wietholder would take advantage of his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Long and Steven DeLonjay. Wietholder and Long then battled for the lead over the next 8 laps, when the first caution appeared on lap 9. Keith Pratt spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Wietholder moved back out front, with Long glued to his back bumper. Long tried to work under Wietholder for the next 3 laps, as the top two started to pull away from the field. Wietholder would bobble in turn 2 on lap 12, which allowed Long to get under him to take over the top spot on lap 13. The action up front was slowed for the second and final time on lap 15, as Pratt spun in turn 4 for his second solo caution to end his night. Long grabbed the lead on the restart, with Wietholder working to hold off DeLonjay for the runner up spot. Long would go on to lead the final 5 laps to pick up the win. Wietholder won the battle for 2nd, DeLonjay was 3rd, Shawn Deering came from 6th to finish in 4th, with Russ Coultas rounding out the top 5.
Up next was the 30 lap POWRi Midget feature, with Michael Pickens and Ryan Chriswell leading the field to the drop of the green flag. Pickens used his front row start to grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Chriswell and Tyler Thomas. The action was slowed for the first time on lap 5, as Garrett Aitken spun in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Thomas, who was running 2nd, went over the track in turn 4 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Pickens jumped back out front, with Brad Mosen and Darren Hagen battling for the runner up spot. One lap later, lap 6, Andy Malpocker spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. On the restart Mosen tried to work under Pickens for the lead, but ended up clipping the tire in turn 4 and went for a roll to bring out the red. He climbed from his car okay. Pickens jumped back out front on the restart, with Hagen and Tanner Thorsen, who started 12th, glued to his back bumper. Hagen used the bottom of the track in turn 2 to slip past Pickens for the top spot on lap 10, leaving him to battle with teammate Thorsen for second. The fast pace that Hagen was setting allowed him to enter lapped traffic on lap 15. But the second red of the race would bring the field back to his back bumper. Jason McDougal went rolling off turn 3 on lap 17 to bring out the red. He climbed from his car okay. On the restart Hagen moved back out front, with Pickens working to hold off Zach Daum, who started 8th, and Thorsen for second. Disaster would strike Pickens, who was running 2nd, on lap 26, as hard racing with teammate Thorsen sent him for a spin in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. Which was turned into a red when his car caught on fire. Hagen grabbed the lead on the restart and pulled away over the final 4 laps to claim the win. Thorsen settled for 2nd, Daum was 3rd, Andrew Felker started 13th and passed 9 cars to finish in 4th, with Austin Brown finishing in 5th after starting in 9th.

The three car battle out front was a good one, as Openshaw, worked the top of the track, while Flud tried the middle, with Harmes following in Openshaw's tracks up top. Flud was able to slip under Openshaw on lap 14 to grab the top spot away, with the caution coming out just as the lap was scored complete. Kyle Schuett and Jake Galusha collided in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. At the same time Harmes, who was battling for the lead, spun off turn 4. On the restart Jeremy Camp, Aaron Andruskevitch, Scott Sawyer and Tucker Klaasmeyer collided in turn 4 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Flud jump back out front, with Openshaw and Travis Senter, who started 10th, close behind. Openshaw would try to get back around Flud over the final 6 laps, but Flud would hold him off to pick up his first career POWRi Outlaw Micro feature win. Openshaw settled for 2nd, Senter was 3rd, Trey Marcham was 4th, with Ponder, who started 13th, recovering from his lap 2 spin to come back up to round out the top 5.
Notes from Quincy: 38 Midgets and 39 Outlaw Micros signed in on there first ever visit to the track. Those drivers would draw a pill to determine their starting spot in one of the five heat races. Then the top 16 in passing points were locked into the A Main, with the remainder going to one of two B Mains. The top 3 in each of those B Mains would move on into the A Main, with one points provisional added to make up the 23 car starting fields......Midget heat 1 was won by Seth Motsinger. He was followed across the line by Tanner Thorsen, Tyler Thomas, who started 7th, Colten Cottle, Spencer Bayston, Robbie Ray and Leyton Kendall....Heat 2 was won by Daniel Robinson. He was follwed by Ryan Chriswell, who started 6th, Terry Babb, who came from 7th, Nick Bailey, Jake Neuman, Derek Holmwood, who took a nasty roll off turn 3. He was taken to the hospital for precautions, but returned to the track later okay. Jeff Flesher rounded out the finish in heat 2....Heat 3 was won by Michael Pickens, who started 5th. Hayes Scores First Career Stock Car Feature Win at Quincy Raceways
Quincy, IL (Sunday, June 1, 2014) - Sunday night was another regular night of racing at the Quincy Raceways in Quincy, Illinois. Despite the area around the track getting rains, the track was able to survive all the showers to get there program in.
The first feature to take to the track was the 15 lap IMCA Sport Compacts, with Darin Weisinger Jr. and Brandon Lambert leading the field to green. Lambert would take advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Patrick "Skipp" Dunker, who started 4th, and Bryce Baker. Lambert then held the top spot until lap 3 when Dunker squeezed by on the top of the track to take the lead. Austen Becerra, who started 5th and had a string of 13 wins in a row going at the track, tried to chase down Dunker over the final 5 laps. Going into turn 3 on the final lap, Becerra was able to get under Dunker to come out of 4 side-by-side. But Dunker used the momentum off the top of the track to edge Becerra at the line for his first win of the season at the track. Becerra settled for 2nd, Kimberly Abbott came from 6th to finish in 3rd, Lambert was 4th, with Baker coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 18 lap IMCA Stock Car feature, with Nathan Hayes and Jake Powers making up the front row for the event. Hayes used his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Terry Houston and Jim Lynch. Houston would spin in turn 1 on the completion of lap 1 and collected Abe Huls to bring out the yellow. On the restart Hayes moved back out front with Lynch and Brandon Savage battling for second. The action up front was slowed on lap 9, when Powers spun in turn 3 to bring out the caution. Hayes once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Lynch working to hold off Huls, who came from the rear after being involved in the lap 1 crash. Huls cleared Lynch on lap 12 and then went to work on Hayes for the lead. Going into turn 3 on the final lap Huls was able to get up beside Hayes, as both came out of turn 4 side-by-side. But Hayes was able to edge Huls at the line by half a car length to score his first career Stock Car feature win. Huls settled for 2nd, Houston recovered from the lap 1 spin to come back up to 3rd, Savage was 4th, with Powers rounding out the top 5.
Denny Woodworth and Dustin Griffin led the field to the green flag in the 30 lap UMP Late Model feature, with Woodworth grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Justin Reed and Griffin. Reed tried to get under Woodworth over the first 10 laps, before he had to work to hold off Mark Burgtorf for the second spot. While Reed and Burgtorf battled for second, Woodworth was able to open up a two second lead. Burgtorf would clear Reed for the runner up spot on lap 13 and then went to work on cutting into Woodworth's lead. On lap 25 smoke from a broken power steering line appeared from Woodowrth's car, which would allow Burgtorf to cut into his lead. But Woodworth was able to battle the final 5 laps without power steering to claim the win. Burgtorf was 2nd, Reed was 3rd, Griffin was 4th, with Rickey Frankel coming from 7th to finish in 5th.
Up next was the 25 lap UMP Modified feature, with Keith Pratt and Shane Lewis making up the front row for the event. But just as the green flag was dropped the yellow light would come on, as Dylan Hoover spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. On the restart Pratt jumped out front on lap 1 over Michael Long, who started 6th, and David Wietholder. The battle out front was slowed on the completion of lap 1, when Russ Coultas spun in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Ryan Meyer ended up rolling in turn 3 to bring out the red flag. He climbed from his car shaken but okay. Pratt moved back out front on the restart, with Long and Wietholder close behind. Long would slip past Pratt for the top spot on lap 3 and then started to pull away from the field. The fast pace that Long was setting came to an end on lap 17, as he pulled into the infield with troubles to end his night. Steve DeLonjay inherited the lead and then held on to pick up the $750 top prize. Wietholder was 2nd, Lewis was 3rd, Pratt was 4th, with Jared Schlipman passing 7 cars from his 12th place starting spot to come home in 5th.

Hagerbaumer used his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Aaron Brocksieck and Joey Gower. Brocksieck's run up front came to an end on lap 4, when he spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. On the restart Hagerbaumer moved back out front, with Tanner Klingele, who started 5th, and Tony Dunker, who started 9th, battling behind him. The action up front was slowed on lap 6, when Cowman spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart disaster would strike Hagerbaumer, as he spun in turn 4 to bring the yellow light back on. Gower would grab the lead on the restart, with Bobby Anders, who started 7th, and Dunker battling for second. Anders tried the low side and the high side of the track to get around Gower over the final 12 laps. But Gower was able to hold back all of his challenges to claim the win. Anders settled for 2nd, Dunker was 3rd, Bradley Holtmeyer came from 8th to finish in 4th, with Klingele recovering from his left front flat under the caution on lap 6 to come home in 5th.

Tyler Glass Wins His First Career Feature at 34 Raceway
West Burlington, IA (Saturday, May 31, 2014) - Mother nature tried to rain on the racing program on Saturday night at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. But the track officials didn't throw the towel in and let the rain showers stop them from getting the nights events complete. It would pay off with two drivers getting there first wins, two more drivers earning there second career wins, and two drivers getting multiple wins on the season.
The night would start off with the 15 lap IMCA SportMod feature, with Creston Williams and Tom Lathrop making up the front row for the event. But it was fourth place starter Brett Timmerman who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Williams and Lathrop. Williams run up front would come to an end on lap 3, when he slowed in turn 2 with troubles to bring out the caution. On the restart Timmerman jumped back out front, with Bobby Anders, who started 8th, close behind in second. The action up front was slowed one lap later, lap 4, when Chris Larsen spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Timmerman grabbed the lead on the restart, with Anders and Joey Gower battling for the second spot. Anders tried to work under Timmerman several times over the next 8 laps, before making the pass on lap 13 to take over the top spot. Anders then held on over the final 2 laps to claim his third win of the season at the track. Timmerman was 2nd, Gower was 3rd, John Oliver Jr. started 12th and finished 4th, with Tony Dunker rounding out the top 5.
Up next was the 12 lap 4 Cylinder feature, with Shawn Baker and Dustin Ravelin leading the field to the green flag. But it was fourth place starter Ron Kibbe who jumped out front on lap 1 over Ravelin and Baker. Disaster then struck Kibbe on lap 9, as he slowed down the backstretch on lap 9 to bring out the caution. Then mother nature decided the track needed watering, as the rains started to fall. It would take the track crew 30 minutes to rework the track in order to finish the final 3 laps of the race. Once back to green John Richardson, who started 10th, inherited the lead for the restart. Coming to the white flag Austen Becerra, who started 9th, slipped past Richardson to take the top spot and then went on to claim his 4th win of the season at the track and 16th overall on the season. Richardson settled for 2nd, Ravelin was 3rd, Larry Miller was 4th, with Daytona Fenton coming home in 5th.
Bo Hunter and John Brockway made up the front row for the 20 lap IMCA Stock Car feature. But Jim Lynch and Tom Bowling Jr. would spin in turn 3 on the start to bring out the yellow. On the restart Jake Wenig, Dane Fenton and Chad Krogmeier collided in turn 2 to bring the yellow light back on. A third attempt of a start saw Shane Watts, who started 6th and was moved to 2nd after the yellows, moved out front on lap 1 over Brockway and John Oliver Jr., who started 8th. Debris in turn 3 on lap 6 would slow the action down for the final time. Watts moved back out front on the restart, with Brockway working to hold back Bolwing Jr. who recovered from his lap 1 spin to climb back up to 3rd. Watts, Bowling Jr., and Oliver Jr. had a three car battle going for the top spot, when Bowling Jr. got sideways in turn 1 and fell from battling for 2nd to 6th. This would allow Watts to hold on to claim his second career Stock Car feature of the season at the track. Oliver Jr. settled for 2nd, Brockway held on for 3rd, Lynch recovered from his lap 1 spin to come back up to finish in 4th, with Ray Raker coming from the back after pitting on the start with a left rear flat to finish in 5th.

The action up front was slowed on lap 17, as Collin Rothzen spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Brandon Rothzen, who recovered from his involvement in the lap 1 spin, tried to go from fourth to first in turn 4. With the result being Brandon spinning in front of the field and collecting Waterman, who was running 2nd, and Mitch Morris, who started 11th and was up to 5th, to bring the yellow light back on. Glass jumped back out front on the restart, with Hansen recovering from his lap 10 spin to climb back to 2nd. Glass then held on over the final 3 laps to pick up his first career feature win. Hansen was 2nd, Roberts Jr. recovered from his lap 1 spin to come back up to finish 3rd, Levi Layman passed 9 cars from his 13th place starting spot to finish in 4th, with Dean McGee coming home in 5th.
Up next was the 12 lap Mod Lite feature, with Devon Rouse and Gary Snyder on the front row. Rouse would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Snyder and Justin Buchholz. While Rouse worked out front, Daniel Keltner, who started 5th, and Buchholz were racing side-by-side trying to get to the front. Keltner would work his way to second with 5 laps to go, and then went to work on catching Rouse for the top spot. Going into turn 3 on the final lap Rouse would choose the bottom to get by the lapped cars, while Keltner went high. Rouse was able to edge Keltner at the line by a car length to claim his second career feature win and second of the season at the track. Keltner settled for 2nd, Buchholz was 3rd, Collin Ball was 4th, with Snyder rounding out the top 5.
The final feature to take to the track was the 20 lap 305 Sprints, with Cody Wehrle and Chase Wanner making up the front row. Wanner took advantage of his front row start to move out front on lap 1 over Wehrle and Dustin Clark. Wanner set a fast pace out front, as he pulled away from the battle behind him and was lapping cars early. The caution free race would end with Wanner taking the checkered flag for what looked like his first win. But after post race inspection it was discovered his engine was a 360 cubic inch instead of the 305, which resulted in him getting disqualified. As a result Daniel Bergquist, who started 7th and crossed the line in second, would pick up his first win of the season. Justin Newberry was moved to 2nd, Shane Quam was moved to 3rd, John Schulz started 9th and was moved to 4th, with Jayson Ditsworth coming from 11th to be moved up to 5th.

He would stay out of trouble and ended his night in 14th....Roger Krieger debuted a new Sprint car and finished in 15th....Shawn Whiting had troubles after his heat that forced him to scratch from the feature....Heath Bundy had troubles in hot laps that forced him to scratch for the night.

Up next was the 12 lap Mod Lite feature, with Devon Rouse and Gary Snyder on the front row. Rouse would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Snyder and Justin Buchholz. While Rouse worked out front, Daniel Keltner, who started 5th, and Buchholz were racing side-by-side trying to get to the front. Keltner would work his way to second with 5 laps to go, and then went to work on catching Rouse for the top spot. Going into turn 3 on the final lap Rouse would choose the bottom to get by the lapped cars, while Keltner went high. Rouse was able to edge Keltner at the line by a car length to claim his second career feature win and second of the season at the track. Keltner settled for 2nd, Buchholz was 3rd, Collin Ball was 4th, with Snyder rounding out the top 5.
The final feature to take to the track was the 20 lap 305 Sprints, with Cody Wehrle and Chase Wanner making up the front row. Wanner took advantage of his front row start to move out front on lap 1 over Wehrle and Dustin Clark. Wanner set a fast pace out front, as he pulled away from the battle behind him and was lapping cars early. The caution free race would end with Wanner taking the checkered flag for what looked like his first win. But after post race inspection it was discovered his engine was a 360 cubic inch instead of the 305, which resulted in him getting disqualified. As a result Daniel Bergquist, who started 7th and crossed the line in second, would pick up his first win of the season. Justin Newberry was moved to 2nd, Shane Quam was moved to 3rd, John Schulz started 9th and was moved to 4th, with Jayson Ditsworth coming from 11th to be moved up to 5th.
Notes from 34: Chris Larsen recovered from his lap 4 spin in the SportMod feature to come back up to finish in 8th....Sean Wyett passed 4 cars from his 13th place starting spot to finish in 9th......Bryerson Tharp came from 13th in the 4 Cylinder feature to take home an 8th place finish....Randy Wachter, who was running 6th in the Stock Car feature, pulled off under the lap 6 caution to end his night in 10th....Wayne Landheer had troubles in his heat that forced him to scratch from the feature......Mitch Morris recovered from the lap 17 crash in the Modified feature to come back up to finish 6th....Blake Woodruff debuted a Modified he bought off Jeff Waterman. He started the feature in 12th and brought home an 8th place finish....Larry McConnell came from 15th to finish in 9th....Rich Smith was running 3rd, when he pulled off with troubles under the lap 17 caution to end his night in 11th....Dennis LaVeine, who was running 3rd, pulled off under the lap 17 caution with troubles after getting into a lapped car to end his night in 13th....Dugan Thye, who was running 5th, slowed down the backstretch on the lap 10 caution with motor troubles to end his night in 15th...Blaine Jamison jumped into the 51J Sprint for the first time and started the feature in 16th. He would stay out of trouble and ended his night in 14th....Roger Krieger debuted a new Sprint car and finished in 15th....Shawn Whiting had troubles after his heat that forced him to scratch from the feature....Heath Bundy had troubles in hot laps that forced him to scratch for the night.
