Quincy, IL (Sunday, May 24, 2009) - Quincy Raceways played host to the O'Reilly Midwest All-Star Sprints, along with the IMCA Late Models, IMCA Stock Cars, Mod Lites and Hobby Stocks. Taking home the trophies on the evening were Jim Moughan (Sprints), Matt Bailey (IMCA Late Models), Terry Houston (IMCA Stock Cars), Jason Masengrab (Mod Lites) and Jim Powell (Hobby Stocks).

The first feature to take to the track was the 15 lap Mod Lites, with Jason Masengrab and Mike Raffurty draw the front row for the event. Masengrab would edge out Dave Raffurty by inches to grab the lead on lap 1. Masengrab was unchallenged in the green to checkered race to claim the win. D. Raffurty held off Justin Bucholz, who started 8th, in the finish for second, Kevin Goben came home 4th after starting 10th, with M. Raffurty rounding out the top 5.

Next up was the 20 lap IMCA Stock Car feature, with Terry Houston and Jerry Jansen leading the field to the drop of the green flag. Houston would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead. Houston was pulling away from the field as the battle for second was heating up between Chris Wibbell who started 8th, Chris Larsen, Kevin Tomlinson who came from 9th, and John Oliver Jr. who started 10th. Wibbell's run into second ended on lap 15 when he slowed with a right rear tire go down. On the restart, Larsen inherited the second spot but slowed with right rear down on his car. Houston would get a good start on the restart to lead the final 5 laps to pick up the win. Tomlinson would end up second, Oliver Jr. was third, Abe Huls was fourth with Andrew Griffin coming home fifth.

Jim Moughan and AJ Bruns made up the front row for the 30 lap O'Reilly Midwest All-Star Sprint feature, with Moughan grabbing the lead on the drop of the green. But a spin by Jordan Goldesberry, Jerrod Hull and Kris Spitz would bring the yeollw out. Once again Moughan grabbed the top spot on the start, with Tom Dickerman following him into second. Moughan would come up on the back of the field on lap 6, but a caution for Corey Bruns and Austin McCarl would bring the yellow back out. On the restart, Moughan pulled away from the field and once again as he came up on the back of the field a yellow came out. This time for Daron Clayton, Brad Greer and Alex Shanks who all spun off of turns one and two. Moughan again pulled away from the field on the restart and by lap 14 was entering lapped traffic. Dickerman made a charge on Moughan on lap 20 as they entered heavy taffic, but a yellow on lap 23 for Tiffany Wyzard and Kody Kinser would slow the field once again. Moughan got a good restart only to be slowed one lap later for a stopped Jimmy Hurley, who had a right rear tire go down. Once again Moughan jumped out front on the restart and was pulling away, when the final yellow of the race came out on lap 27. This time it was Wyzard getting into the back of Goldesberry and causing front end damage on her car. Moughan grabbed the lead on the restart and pulled away over the final 3 laps for the win. Dickerman held on for second, Bill Rose was third, Ryan Bunton was fourth, with AJ Bruns rounding out the top 5.

The IMCA Late Models took to the track next for there 30 lap feature, with Dustin Neese and Matt Bailey on the front row. On the drop of the green Matt Bailey would grab the lead with Mark Burgtorf close behind in second. Burgtorf would make his move to the top to edge out Matt on lap 3 by inches. Burgtorf looked to be heading for another feature win, until he slowed on lap 14 with a right rear down down. M. Bailey would inherit the lead back on the restart, with Justin Reed, who started 10th, jumping to the top to begin his charge to the front. M. Bailey would lead the final 15 laps and held off a last lap charge from Reed to pick up the win. Keith Pratt was third, Ron Elbe was fourth, with Jerry Weisenberger coming home fifth.

The final feature of the night was the 20 lap Hobby Stocks, with Steve Watkins Jr. and Matt Burgtorf on the front row for the event. Watkins Jr. would take advantage of his front row start to grab the top spot on lap 1. Watkins Jr. then held on to the lead until lap 14, when Jim Powell, who started 7th, slid up in front of him to take over the top spot. Powell then pulled away over the final 6 laps to claim the win. Watkins Jr. held on for second, Wesley Mayfield came from 9th to finish in third, with Mike Wiley fourth and James Leffew rounding out the top 5.

Notes from Quincy......Jason Masengrab mage the pull from Colona, IL worth it as he took home the $300 top prize back home with him. Raffurty Racing brought four Mod Lites from Kansas City, MO to compete, with Dave 2nd, Mike 5th, Jeff 7th and Dillon 10th in the feature......Austin McCarl's night started off rough as he got off the track in turns one and two and hit the guardrail hard and rolled in hot laps. They got the car fixed for the heat, but his night would end early in the feature. Kaley Gharst started 8th in the feature and had moved up to 4th when he did a 360 and kept going on lap 26, but fell back to 6th where he finished. Jerrod Hull made a nice recovery after a first lap involvement with a spin by Goldesberry and had to go to the rear, but made it back to finish in 7th.
